Thread Title: "Announcement - 10 Minute Rule"
AuctionArmsCeo

At the request of many of our users, and after consulting with our buyers and sellers over many months, we've decided make a change to how auctions are run at Auction Arms. Starting September 1st, all Auction Arms auctions will have a 10-minute rule implemented at closing time. This 10-minute rule means that if anyone bids in the last ten minutes of an auction, the auction will be extended by 10 minutes from the submission time of the bid. We feel, as do many others, that this new rule will benefit both buyers and sellers by giving everyone an opportunity to bid on an item to find it’s true market value. I realize that not everyone will be happy with this decision, but we feel it’s in the best interests of Auction Arms, and our buyer and sellers, and hope you will remain our loyal customer. Thanks for your patience.

NOW THE BIDS WILL GET SPACED THAT THEY DO NOT ALL TRY TO SNIPE IT LIKE BEFORE MEANING LESS TRAFFIC ON ONE AUCTION IN LAST MINUTE.

Sure, I'll bet the whole system will run like clockwork now, all the problems have been solved by adding the 10 minute delay.

One (but not all of the reasons) we switched to GB was the higher prices realized. Now AA is trying to equal the playing field in that area and I am watching it carefully to see where it is going.

jakebucky- You must have named one of the competing auction sites. Or some personal information about yourself (email, phone etc.)

The 10 minute rule was a bummer as I had discovered tonight.  (staff edit) The sniper fun of buying here is DONE.  Waiting for the 10 minutes to expire when the auction end is now a moving target is sad to see put in place.  My goal here, if I did not win was to engage in the haggle with the seller and then it was down to reach a common agreement of buyer and seller both being happy on an agreed on price. Now with the moving target auction end that is gone to.  On (staff edit) I bid without regard to the 15 minute rule and if I win, great and if I don't win and I am high bidder, then there is no haggle option to go to next in the buying process.  I am not going to chase an auction end to try to reach the haggle phase.  I have had far fewer victories here than over at (staff edit) and I have been at both sites for about 10 years.  I am very upset about the 10 minute rule and I felt that the haggle bridged the difference in not having the 10-15 rule.  I think it is a better rule for the seller in some cases.  It ought to be a seller option whether or not to invoke the 10 minute rule and work with the haggle.  Oh well it is here and I will have to switch to (staff edit) thinking when I come back to troll with much less expectations of a successful hunting expedition.  I do like the forums here at AA as they are much more open and informative and easier to post.  I have never posted on (staff edit) as the search topics are difficult to follow.  AA wins the forum hands down, but I am still in shock about the moving auction end time.  I really liked the live online auction portal, but now it is kinda meaningless as the auction end time is now a moving target. Bummer. Over & out.
