Manny, How many times have AA staff and sellers said "Place your max bid and let the proxy bid for you.If you are out bid then you move on to the next one?"Those who lost an item because of a snipe were snipepers and pissed off because they got caught with their pants down. If a seller has an item on auction that has stirred genuine interest, it will sell for the best price it can bring. If the item is a little odd, in lets say caliber, then the interest wans and the price drops. That is where the snipper shines. The fact is, if the sellers wish to make more money, list better products and more of them. There is a CZ redhead O/U on the scroll that is started at 650.00 with a buy it now of 775.00. They list for 850-1000.00 new. This is a good buy but it has one bid at 650.00. The buy it now would be a decent deal but there is no buyer interest. The 10 minute rule isn't going to help this one nor any other that the buyers don't want. You can lead a horse to water.... | (no avatar) | Manny--- I have not talked to a single buyer that likes the ten miute rule. You're statement that buyers might be happier because they don't like being sniped is just about the silliest thing I have ever heard. All buyers know about the PROXY bid. Your decision to go this way is really none of my business but you stating buyers are for it is simply not believable-----Thanks |

And the buyers who like it should have the option of a 10-minute rule and those who don't like it shouldn't be subject to it. |

| (no avatar) | Waiting till the last 15 seconds of an auction to "SNIPE" someone, is not my idea of an auction. It's a guessing game that's not even an auction at all. EBAY is famous for it..they even show you the time counting down..boy, what fun?..You want what I want? OUTBID me, fair and square..If the seller has friends as bogus bidders to drive the price up, they probably will win most of the time, causing the seller to pay the fee and relist the item, which will become obvious and reason for their membership termination. The auction isn't over until the last bid is placed..I salute AA for making the right decision..EDW |
