Well, I just had a friend try emailing me on the one auction I have listed, purely as a test case, and it came through on my regular email, AND shows up on the new MY MESSAGES link. It also had an option to make the message public, as well as the reply. As long as the question comes through on my REGULAR email, AND I have the option of putting any of it on the auction, IF I PLEASE, perhaps, this will be workable. We'll try it for a while and see. Note to AA staff: I speak for myself here, and if others agree or disagree with me, so be it. I run my store in a specific way, and it has gotten me a modicum of success. I make changes as well. However, when I moved my shop three months ago, I ran MANY ideas by my regular clientele to see what they would like to see in THEIR new gun shop. Only after getting input from them, did I decide on how to set up the new, MUCH larger, shop and what to carry for additional stock. My customers have made my shop what it is, and to have made sweeping changes WITHOUT asking what their needs and desires are, is to ignore them completely. I took offense at the change you made in the email system just like my customers would have if I had changed my shop from a collectible used, AND new, gun shop that also stocks more handguns than anybody else around, to stocking only new high end shotguns, and nothing else. I would have lost 90% of my clientele. Granted, any new customers that came along wouldn't know the difference, but the old customers would be gone forever. AA is an extension of MY shop as well as many other's. I take offense when it is changed without my input, or at least SOME notice. The mere fact that we take such offense to changes, SHOULD tell you that you have achieved success with the site, simply by the furor that you have caused. Please communicate effectively when even contemplating changes. Your members ARE this site, and this site is NOTHING without them. Tom @ Petesguns |

| (no avatar) | Hi Bob & Manny, Well, you guys really know how to create controversy! Although your reasons for using the "new" (which I detest) system might have sugar coated reasons such as maintaining "integrity" and "honesty" with your sellers, my common sense tells me that your main concern is loosing potential revenue. Being a fellow capitalist, I also like to generate as much revenue as I can. That's why all of my auctions are "Penny Auctions" which always get bids, and always sell! (And always create $$ for the good ol' boys at AA!) I never complain about the auctions that I sometimes loose money on because I realize that it's part of the "risk" involved. I'm sure that some of your sellers have done some "off auction" sales in the past. I for one, have not, and although have had many numerous chances to do so, I consider my self honest and realize that I have to play by the rules. By creating this (AA) site you are for sure going to get some "bad guys'. Thats "your" risk! I don't think that the "Big Brother" approach is really going to make much difference. The dishonest sellers will certainly find a way to get around all of your "fail safe" mechanics, and the good guys such as Mark, Herb, Myself and many others will continue to make all of us $$$$$. Why don't you just simply put it back the way it was? Yeah, you'll get shafted out of a few bucks from the scumbag sellers, but you'll more than make it up from the good guys. I like your site, but I don't like the idea that I could be considered "potentially dishonest" and "Protected" from being so by the "Big Brother" approach. Aren't we "Innocent untill proven Guilty"? |

Mucker, that was very well stated, and pretty much sums up about 144 posts worth of specifics. Good job. Now we will wait and see what AA decides is most important. I like to think that they will do the right thing. A bird in the hand IS worth two in the bush, especially when the one in the hand is a loyal bird. |

HALFIRST LET ME BE THE FIRST TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST AND THE COMPLEMENTS TO BROTHER AND ME. WE ALL TRY TO KEEP THIS PLACE IN BUSINESS BECAUSE WE ALL EARN MONEY HERE. BUT LIKE IN THE STORES OUT THERE WE KNOW THERE IS SOME STEALING WHICH HURTS ALL OF US AND WE CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH TO PROTECT US.AA HAS THEIRS AND WE HAVE OUR'S THE DEADBEATS THAT COST US TIME WHICH ADDS UP TO MONEY. BUT THAT'S ALL PART OF BUSINESS LIKE IT OR NOT! BUT WITH THE NEW CHANGES WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM THE PEOPLE HAS GOT MANY OF US TICKED OFF. YUP WE SHOULD BE WORKING TOGETHER TO HELP EACH OTHER. NOW THAT'S HOW BIG CORPORATIONS WORK. |

| (no avatar) | Always found AA site to be extremely user friendly up until this . Sorry , but it is extremely time consuming and a major disruption to doing business on the Auction Arms website . |
