Thread Title: "What do you think?"
AuctionArmsCeo What do you think of the Auction Arms forums? We thought about this question for a long time before coming to the conclusion that we needed to write our own forum in-house. The problem is that integrating someone else's discussion software was just as complicated as writing it from scratch - and we had a few requirements that absolutely had to be met before we would have something like a forum at Auction Arms.

Bubba J - I understand just what you mean. I know I have been "sticking up for" GA on some issues. Typically ones that involve "misconceptions" that some people hold about business or the free market.

Or some posts where members don't know how a particular function works or doesn't work on GA. - I have been trying to help them out when I can, so that they won't become frustrated with this site.

I like this site, even though I am against "the new look". It's their site and for now at least, they are trying to accommodate the old farts like me by keeping the old one running as well.

If you are referring to post #48, that was just a joke, plain and simple.

If you are referring to some of the posts involving the "adds" placed on the sellers pages, well, again, I am not "siding" with GA, exactly. I too am against adds- All ADDS! I hate them as a rule! - I hate GEICO Insurance adds!!!! Especially!!!

But it's up to the OWNERS of the site to determine what they want to do to make dough!

I do have a problem when some members make it sound as though a private business owner must somehow "provide" a product or service, and NOT make a PROFIT from it! - Phrases such as "fair share" and "shared sacrifice" have brainwashed many people in this country to believe that "success" is wrong! That profits are wrong.  - And from this brainwashing, they try to influence a private business on a public forum.

I do speak out against this misguided shift away from legitimate criticism of a business, where applicable. And that puts me on the side of business and a free market! - 99 per centers?, and Occupy Wall Street crowd? They are lost soles who have been lied to by the most expensive and malicious educational system in the world.

-----I know. I am rambling again. But you have brought up a topic that has very deep implications both here on GA, and in the greater society which is slowly being "changed" into a Socialist Society. -----

And Again I am running out of time today to elaborate more clearly. --- Too many places I have to go to. ---

But to answer your question directly; I am not in the pocket of GA or AA. I just want this place to be here, and be successful.

Absolutely not a problem. I am not a fan of misconceptions either. I strive to base my feelings on pr oven facts.

Or some posts where members don't know how a particular function works or doesn't work on GA. - I have been trying to help them out when I can, so that they won't become frustrated with this site.

And I feel that you do a very good job doing this.

The new look is definitely different. While it may take some time for us 'ole Farts to become use to it, I do think that it is an improvement.

If you are referring to post #48, that was just a joke, plain and simple.

I'm not to sure that I'd want anyone to know that I was kin to AAbob. It could be a reason for someone to question the gene pool from which one originated from.

What gives me severe heart burn about this is the fact that EVERYONE is not playing on a level field. As the old saying goes, "What's good for the goose, is good for the gander". I strongly oppose preferential treatment to some and not all.

But it's up to the OWNERS of the site to determine what they want to do to make dough!

This is true, however, an owner can easily shoot themselves in the foot by being greedy too. It's a very slippery slope to me. A token payment to opt out of having ads placed in ones' listing is a very good idea.

I am a strong supporter of a capitalistic society where if one works and EARNS some type of compensation, then it belongs to them entirely. Of course this compensation would be subject to local, state & federal taxes being deducted.

The First Amendment rules here. Of course, one has to avoid any liable issues in their criticism. Those lost soles are a victim of Obamaisim. If the American voting public re-elect this man, I will completely loose respect for anyone who voted for him. But alas, this is the land of freedom. Even if it is used in a self destructive manner.

I applaud you for your efforts to help keep this site up and running. Just be aware that the image which one projects can be the cause of a person being judged in the court of public opinion as being guilty by association.

Bubba, if I could add a 2 cent worth here as far as a buyer is concerned. I am only on this site to buy guns. That is actually what it is for. As long as I can do so, I will.  As far as the adds or other paraphanalia on the pages I am on here, they go unnoticed. Like tv commercials. The adds are everywhere in society no matter what public media one is watching, be it computer, TV, or live events even. Look at NASCAR. As far as the politics of this particular site, I couldn't care less.   I guess what I am saying is that sellers dont fret the adds too much, most (or all) arent even seen or payed attention to.      When driving down the highway and looking at the scenery and a billboard comes up , it will pass basically unnoticed.   True, the adds shouldnt be over top a sellers item as that would be an invasion of personal (paid for) space.         Bottom line is, I want to buy guns and I can here. As long as this is an auction site then the prices cant be affected by what goes on here but by bids.      Just my take, Thanks

A sole proprietorship, also known as the sole trader or simply a proprietorship, is a type of business entity that is owned and run by one individual and in which there is no legal distinction between the owner and the business.in English law, a legal entity consisting of a single person ("sole")

Well, I thought ya'll was talking about a fish (sole) like a flounder and I had Red Lobster on my mind.I quess sole is proper though I always thought "lost souls" was correct. I was having a grammer lesson I have three days until 5th gets back from his trip to brush up.

Really? Um, does anyone else see the complete contradiction in these statements? How did the governemnt pay for itself before it taxed earnings of the individual, individual income tax?

Does anyone know where, or more to the point from whom the term "Capitalism" came from.

I suggest reading his work and comparing it to the work of Adam Smith.
