Thread Title: "Server Outage....."
AuctionArmsCeo Our apologies. We've had some difficulty with a database server, but seem to have ironed things out. After pounding on a machine in our data center for the last twelve hours, I seem to have lost some coherence, so please bear with me. We were forced to restore from a backup taken in the early AM hours of the 15th, so if you posted an auction at all yesterday, I'm sorry to report that we were unable to recover that data. All auctions that were scheduled to end during our downtime have been rescheduled to end at 8PM, this evening.

If you submitted a bid between 2AM and 4PM on the 15th, please take a look at the auction to make sure that the High Bidder is correctly displayed. If you see anything unusual, please give us a holler and we'll make it right.

Thankyou for bearing with us as we get this all sorted out. Everything is currently almost back to normal. As always, if you're a user who had a problem that needs our attention because of this outage, we'll work to make it right. Don't hesitate to call.

(no avatar) So,as a bidder who actually saw his auction close yesterday with himself as the high bidder (and the history shows that) and then seeing the auction reopen, will the high bidder at the auctual close win, or is there an opportunity now to get outbid. My current Max Bid shows on my personal status page, but doesn't seem to be effective. What do you recommend? Just wait?

(no avatar) After all is up and running smoothly, cool off and begin to think APPLE/MCINTOSH for server hardware and software. www.apple.com Best of Luck!

(no avatar) Supergimp:Just an observation but I tried to look at my own auctions that were ending last night. Two hours before the auction was to end I couldn't even access AA.If I couldn't then neither could any potential bidders.

AA-bob supergimp yes, due to the outage we extended all auctions that were scheduled to close during the outage until 8PM PDST tonight. It is possible to be out bid on any current auction. The High bidder at the close will win the auction.

AA-bob So far as we know, this sequence of server failures was unrelated to any of the current "Worm" problems currerntly being reported. Appears to have started with a hardware failure problem which consequently caused corruption in systems software packages.

Petesguns Things seem to be MUCH better now except.........some of the high bids are not showing up on the pages, but they are shown on the bid history. I am sure this, too, shall pass.

(no avatar) "supergimp yes, due to the outage we extended all auctions that were scheduled to close during the outage until 8PM PDST tonight. It is possible to be out bid on any current auction. The High bidder at the close will win the auction." I guess this isn't eBay. Do I need to redo anything to requeue my bid? My max bid still isn't registering. Seems a bit unfair for auctions that actually reached their close (as evidenced by the bid history vs. original auction close time). Also, a bidder's high bids are now exposed (those that executed in the last seconds especially).
