The problem that we're trying to solve involves bidders sending money to parties unknown without bothering to confirm identity. Yes, it happens. We've thought about it, discussed it, and the solution that is most workable involves masking the identities of bidders to those not participating in the auction. If you are the seller, you can see all participants in the auction. This currently works. If you're not logged in, we don't know who you are, and don't show you the bidders. If you're logged in, we have no problem with you checking the feedback of a current bidder. We're currently working on another solution for notifying bidders in an auction that must be relisted, but our solution for masking bidders also applies to auctions where the auction was successful and wasn't relisted, but there were other bidders.
This solution does not address Willie TA's solution of trolling for deadbeat bidders in other auctions, then putting them on his bidder screening list. I'll have to think about that one... |

MANNY & BOB NOW I CAN'T CHECK IF THE BIDDER WAS A GOOD ONE OR A BAD ONE ON AN AUCTION THAT WAS NOT MINE. YUP THAT'S WHERE I SEE BAD APPLES THAT END UP ON MY BLOCK LIST. WHAT MANNY SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SEND AN E MAIL TO EVERYONE WHO BID IN AN AUCTION THAT HAD A BAD BIDDER WHEN IT GETS RE-LISTED.. ITS LIKE GETTING A HEADS UP THAT ITEM THAT YOU WANTED IS FOR SALE AGAIN DO TO A BAD BIDDER OR SCAMMER. I REMEMBER E BAY SENT OUT AN E MAIL FOR PEOPLE TO CHANGE THERE NAMES IF IT HAD AN ADDRESS TO IT. HOW ABOUT YOU DOING IT.. I AM SURE MANNY CAN FIGURE OUT A WAY TO SEND AN E MAIL LIKE THAT TO PEOPLE WHO DO THAT IF HE KNOWS HOW TO SEND ANNIVERSARY LETTERS TO US. HOW ABOUT A NOTICE LETTER TO THE SELLERS THAT HAVE A BAD BIDDER THAT GETS DISABLED SO THEY DON'T WASTE TIME WAITING TO SEE IF THEY CAN RE-LIST THAT ITEM WITH THE BAD BIDDER. HOW ABOUT PUTTING A LIMIT OF AUCTIONS A NEW BIDDER CAN BID ON. I SEE SOME BAD NEW BIDDERS ARE RACKING UP 8 AND 10 BAD FEEDBACKS. THAT'S A BUNCH OF AUCTIONS THEY KILLED. THERE ARE OTHER THINGS I CAN'T TALK ABOUT ON THE FORUM AND YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. MANNY STILL WAITING FOR THAT PHONE CALL FROM WEEKS AGO. AS FOR MY TROLLING FOR BAD BIDDERS WITH FEEDBACK IT WORKS VERY WELL. |

| (no avatar) | I'm just a lowly Professional Engineer, so maybe it takes me a little longer to understand the original issue. As I mentioned earlier, I don't understand buyers not confirming the mailing address of the seller. After a bid closes, the buyer can view his "My Closed Bids" listing and click on "Winner, Contact Seller". That brings up the seller's name, email address, city and state, fax number, telephone numbers, and company name if there is one. The only thing it does not have is the specific street number and street name. I am not sure why the street number and street name are not there. It is information that certainly could be accumulated over time. I'm going to get it from the seller in a few days anyway. So, leaving it out really doesn't protect anyone. I feel it should be included. AA should require that this information be kept current and the buyer should only send payment to this person....period. AA controls when this information is released to the buyer. So, what am I missing? |

| (no avatar) | I like the new system. The seller should be the only one to see who is really bidding. I do not like the mention of using other people's auctions to weed out or block bidders from your future auctions. That is what the feedback is for. "preemptive" strikes rarely worked in the military and to block some one before you even take a bid or had dealings with stinks. I know TA might take offense to this statement, but I have to ask...why don't you leave feedback for your buyers?? If you use other peoples auctions to block people, shouldn't other sellers be able to see your input with your many sales here??? only 69% feedback left?? I hope I never get that busy selling here on AA. JMHO bob |

BABUN..I AM WELL ENOUGH TO DEFEND MYSELF..I HAVE SOLD OVER 2500 ITEMS ON AA. NOW MAYBE YOU MIGHT UNDERSTAND WHY I ONLY LEAVE FEEDBACK FOR THOSE THAT GIVE ME FEEDBACK! YUP I ONLY GOT 1450 FEEDBACKS WHEN I SHOULD HAVE OVER 2500... SO NOW WHAT DO YOU SAY MR. KNOW IT ALL! PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES AND THINK IT OVER. THEN YOU MIGHT BE THINKING LIKE ME. |

| (no avatar) | I hope I NEVER think like you. I believe holding feedback "hostage" is wrong. and your self-proclaimed method of blocking bidders before hand sucks. You say you don;t leave feedback UNLESS you get it first, then how would other sellers "use" your system?? Your lack of posting feedback is limiting other sellers to use you as a "guiding" force as you use them. No I am not MR. KNOW IT ALL, but I strongly disagree with your way of posting feedback, but since it is your business, do as you please. I ask many questions here on AA to get a feel of what is right and wrong, and your "I'll trade you positive for positive" has never been used by me in over 12 years of internet sales, and NEVER will. Just last week I posted a question about an error on my feedback record that showed I missed posting 6 feedbacks, which I did leave. The buyers deserved positive because they did everything they were supposed to, and they got it. Not because they said first I was a "good boy" BOB |

BABUN.....JUST IN LAST 8 WEEKS I HAVE HAD SOME GOOD PEOPLE AND BAD PEOPLE WHO IF I LEFT FEEDBACK AS SOON AS I GOT FUNDS AND LEFT FEEDBACK I WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE AA CHANGE IT. DO YOU KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS THAT IS? WHEN YOU START DOING AS MUCH AS I DO THEN YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IT. END OF THIS CHANGING THE TOPIC ON THIS THREAD!
NOW I DO LOOK AT PEOPLES FEEDBACK AND YOU CAN GET A GENERAL IDEA HOW THEY DO BUSINESS BY LOOKING AT FEEDBACK. THREE WEEKS AGO I SAW A NEW BAD APPLE STARTING TO GO BAD AND I PUT BLOCK ON. HE ASKED WHY AND I TOLD HIM.. THE FOLLOWING WEEK HE WAS DISABLED. GUESS I SAVED A FEW AUCTIONS OF MINE BY DOING THAT AND NOT WASTING MY TIME. |
