This morning at about 06:30, our DNS provider (Domain Name Service for you non-twidget types) went toes-up for about half an hour. A DNS provides the service for associating the domain name (auctionarms.com) with it's corresponding IP address (a physical address in the form of a number). So when you type in blahblahblah.com, a request goes out to a DNS and sends the numbered address back to your browser, which then uses that address to get information from the server that owns it. Our DNS - provided by a monolithic, and strangely unresponsive - but so far reliable company, decided it needed a tiny vacation, so folks couldn't access things like pictures and item posting. AuctionArms.com itself never went down, and bids could still be placed. But pictures briefly couldn't be seen, as well as the item posting process.
