Thread Title: "Seller Fee Changes Starting Nov 1st..."
AuctionArmsCeo Starting November 1st, Auction Arms will now charge a nominal listing fee for Reserve Auctions. Given that the vast majority of Reserve Auctions listed at Auction Arms do not sell, we are attempting to cut down on auctions where the seller doesn't list a realistic reserve price, by requiring a listing fee of $0.50 for every Reserve Auction listed, regardless of the reserve. If the auction sells, the listing fee will not be charged at the close of the auction. This is not an uncommon practice among online auction houses, and we're hopeful that it will substantially improve the quality of Reserve Auctions at Auction Arms.

Also, starting November 1st, we will charge a volume fee of $0.25 for every auction created above a 200 auction limit. This volume fee only applies to NON-Firearms related categories, and to auctions being run concurrently. In other words, if you list more than 200 auctions at once, in a category other than a gun category, you're going to be paying a non-refundable listing fee of $0.25 - on top of any other fees you might accrue. We are doing this in an attempt to cut down on the number of items that get listed, but don't sell because the seller is essentially SPAMMING up the site. Any sellers who feel they have a successful track record of selling in NON-Firearms related categories while listing more than 200 auctions at once are encouraged to contact Bob Lancaster at Bob@AuctionArms.com for a waiver.

These are small changes that will not directly affect the vast majority of sellers at Auction Arms, but will hopefully improve the quality of sales for all users - which is something we can all appreciate. Thanks!

AA-bob One at a time folks, one at a time. If you want to sell multiples at once, do a Dutch Auction. Please read the Terms and Conditions. The sole exception is Firearms. Firearms all need to be done singly. One auction per.

(no avatar) BOB!As I'v just red the brief of the changes that r 2 b initiated,in Nov.,I'm seeing that If I list 95 items on the ammo+collectable listings,on a reserv, then it'll cost me an additional $23.75,b 4 I even sell the items. Is that correct? If that happens, then it'll put myself es others off of the site were trying 2 generate an income frm..If only 2 items were 2 get sold, irregardless which 1's,we cudn't re-coup the losses,es if we raised the reserv, either we'd pay 4 nothing b ing sold,or b ing left holding the loss,2 which we cudn't continue. If that is the correct interpretation, pse email me. tnx,Compatriot/Charlie...........

(no avatar) No one here has challenged my basic point. Let me rephrase it. Why do you allow reserve auctions then? If the buyers 'won't bid on them'. If you want to go to a per listing fee than why not just be honest about it.

(no avatar) I just checked the RESERVE catogery for Collectable Ammunition at 6:48 PM. There are 147 open RESERVE items listed 10 have bids. Only one has met the RESERVE price. One items has a $10.00 opening bid price and a $250.00 'BUY IT NOW' price. That is the reason that Auction Arms is setting a charge for reserve bid items. If realistic openings on the items were offered more items would sell, but just listing an item to show it off is a waste of space on this auction site. I'm glad that Auction Arms is trying to clean up the game playing. Bill

(no avatar) Compatriot, Why not just list them without a reserve at a price you are willing to sell them for. Then your listings will be free unless they sell. I honestly think reserve auctions turn bidders off. I bet if you did that and compared last month with reserve auctions with a new month without reserves, you will find a higher rate of sell. Long ago I did some experimenting with auctions in this regard and with what I discovered I now never list reserve auctions. You might be pleasantly surprised if you give it a try. John

AA-bob

Compatriot, fees for reserve auctions will not be charged to your account unless the reserve style auction closes without selling. Why not try texastradingpost suggestion and avoid reserve charges, Just start a basic auction at the price you would sell the item at.

(no avatar) IS IT JUST ME OR IS THIS NEW 25 CENT ADDITIONAL LISTING FEE FOR OVER 200 ITEMS JUST A NEW WAY TO RUN OFF MORE SMALL VOLUME SELLERS FROM THIS SITE WHICH AS I RECALL WAS ORIGINALLY SET UP TO HELP AND SERVE THE SMALL SELLER..SIMPLY PUT..I SELL GUN PARTS AT MUCH LESS THEN GUN PARTS CORP.,ETC.AND MANY OF THESE ARE REALLY SCARCE,HARD TO FIND ITEMS AND PEOPLE ARE OFTEN GLAD THAT I HAD THEM TO LIST FOR SALE..BUT BASED ON THIS ADDITIONAL FEE I,LL ONLY BE ABLE TO LIST SOME PARTS FOR ABOUT A DOZEN DIFFERENT MODELS WHICH DOESN,T ALLOW FOR MUCH OF A SELECTION AND REALLY DOESN,T HELP ME OR AUCTION ARMS MAKE ANY MONEY..MY QUESTION IS..WHO THOUGHT UP THIS STUPID IDEA ?? AND WHY DID MANNY GO ALONG WITH IT..IT WOULD SEEM THAT HE,D WANT PEOPLE OFFERING PARTS FOR SALE ON HIS SITE THAT PEOPLE REALLY NEED AND ARE TRYING TO FIND WITHOUT PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG FOR..BOTTOM LINE IF THIS DOESN,T CHANGE I,LL HAVE TO MOVE ON TO GREENER PASTURES..LET ME HEAR FROM YOU SMALL SELLERS THAT ARE GETTING SCREWED BY THIS NEW FEE...RISINGSUN
