| (no avatar) | Gentlemen: I would especially like to thank Auction Arms for selecting me as their "in-house" appraiser. Its a special honor to be associated with the best auction company in the USA!! I am the appraiser, Joe Cornell, CMA, ASA, ISA. I would like to thank everyone, who has contacted me about doing work for them, and a special thanks to the many of you, who have used my services. A comment about appraising items that cannot be seen seems to be appropriate. Some of you have asked me about this. Appraisals on items that have not been seen are very common and well accepted in the appraisal profession, in the courts, insurance companies, and all users of appraisals. A special set of appraisal standards is used. It happens when an item is stolen, or damaged by fire, or any occurrence that makes the item difficult or impossible to see. This includes when it is impractical, because of distance or expense, for the appraiser to see the item. I hope that this will help explain this aspect of appraising, and I look forward to being of service to you. Please support AA and its management, for only through your help will AA continue to be the very best. Joe Cornell, CMA, ASA, ISA |
