Thread Title: "Hacker Attack on Auction Arms"
AuctionArmsCeo On the morning of the 18th of August, it appears we had a hacker attack where malicious code was inserted into some closed auctions that could potentially install a virus on your machine. While the attack was detected and corrected almost immediately, if you were:
  1. looking at closed auctions on the morning of the 18th and
  2. your computer doesn't have updated virus protection (shame on you), you are at risk.

If you have updated virus protection, you have nothing to worry about.

The virus in question is believed to be a URL redirect virus, or a trojan that changes your home page in an attempt to increase traffic to the hacker's website. The impact on the Auction Arms website included the removal of some closed auctions to prevent the spread of the virus, most of which have been restored. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and will keep you informed if further details reveal themselves. Thanks again.
