Manny, here is an idea for you, how about adding an IM to the new Communication Feature so we wouldn't have to use the auction question botton to talk with each other? |

One of my auctions has a "Is that the best you can do for price and shipping?" ,and then goes on to tell me and all the viewing public that he can buy a stainless one for the same price, and aren't they better? It's a BS question, meant to torpedo any potential sale I may have. AA used to be fun! Now it's a bummer! |

C Classic, just to clear up a little misconception about these notes you mention that you and others may also have. Only you and the person sending the message can see these communications unless you make them public. You/he can not even see them unless you are logged into your account first. Be assured, they are not in the public venue unless you decide to make them so.
Also, it appears this message sender may be breaking the rules on soliciting off auction sales. If you'll send me the particulars to bob@auctionarms.com, I'll send him a little warning note. |

I do much more selling than buying here on AA.Last night i bid on,and won, a rifle about 7 hours later the "your a winner" e-mail arrived it contained no link to the seller nor sellers contact info.I had to go into my bids copy and paste the info i need for my records,which was still incomplete,no street address.It seems that the once user friendly sight has turned into a time wasting hassel.I sure hope that this is a temporary problem and not another "force fed new feature for our ease and confort" HCF |

| (no avatar) | Well, Manny, I still preferred the old system because of the flexibility of easily sending additional photos and other advantages of a real eMail client, but I recognize that system caused problems for some others which this one apparently resolves and I "hear" the "here to stay" comment you made, so I'll live with it. However, one issue remains which just came to light in the last hour. If there's an problem at AA, whether code or server, such that one cannot send a reply (I sent Marcus a msg with screen shot C&Ps, but will forward it to you when I finish here), the situation becomes "that's all she wrote . . . dead in the water" with no immediate recourse. You folks do a great job responding quickly to your customer base - better than many Fortune 500 companies, to say nothing of your competitors - but you do have real lives and you are away at times - for example on holiday weekends - this being Sunday ;-) - thus it adds a bit to the clients' overhead. Personally, I'd still like to know the sender's eMail address. I understand you intended to improve communications, but as yet my experience has been to find it more frustrating, somewhat less reliable and - *most definitely* - _dramatically_ more time consuming (which is my main gripe). |

No comment this time,just a question.I see now many of the "big guns",and others, with their e-mail address and/or phone numbers listed in the auction text for buyer direct contact.My question is simple and straight forward-"is this practice acceptable to AA for all sellers?". |

Hartwell, there is obviously more than one way to skin a cat. Until AA decides to censor even THAT issue of free speach with the "this is what is best for you" approach that is so loved by one particular political party in our country, perhaps members will continue to find a way to communicate effectively. When, and if, even this method is removed from our abilities, then the members WILL find other ways to converse, although probably not as members of AA. The system HAS worked OK for me so far, but I have not gone through a bunch of questions yet. I will be doing a bunch more auctions this week, and time will tell. I guess that the one thing that WON'T get fixed though is the feeling of having stuff force fed to us, in the "we'll protect you from yourself" approach. Well, I haven't voted for that party for 34 years since I became of age, and I ain't about to start now! |
