Thread Title: "New Communication Feature"
AuctionArmsCeo Buyers and sellers can now communicate with each other through the auction. Any messages sent between buyer and seller are now posted into the auction. We've found that sellers were having to repeatedly answer the same questions over and over, and by posting their reponse into the auction, they now answer everyone else's questions, too.

(no avatar) As you see in the above comment by curly carroll, I lost a bidder-customer. I hope this is a wake up for the rest of the dealers here.

(no avatar) Been away w/ no time to address this, but here's another "NAY" vote on the change. One more level / screen to process before I can access my active auctions, apparently one more way for spammers to waste my time (although I've not had this happen personally, yet), one more add-on to get buggy. With respect to that latter, I receive notifications of the new messages, with *FOUR* different URLs to the listing referenced by the writer - not one of which displays the message; instead I have to access these by activating to the "My Messages" link, and then I cannot attach photos or whatever. The net effect being that I cannot respond immediately from my server filter app as I do with most of my incoming messages, but must switch to the browser, go to the message account and reply there, a minimum of two extra steps - several more if I need to send extra photos because I cannot do it directly even once I have opened the message account. I understand the concern about lost revenues from "off auction sales" . . . sympathize as well. As others noted, however, the dishonest will always find a way to circumvent the system. I just wonder how prevalent this practice actually is? If my personal experience is in any way representative, such inquiries happen with well less than 1% of listings and communications. As to eMail - yes, that can be spotty . . . and has become more so over the past year. But this messaging system has such limited capability, the net effect is not an improvement. In short, gentlemen, the allegations of similarity to a dimocrap approach are not unfounded: lots of extra "paperwork" to deal with something which doesn't appear particularly "broken" in the first place and an "improvement" which doesn't work as well as the previous system. Reminds me of the former first witch's healthcare program and the "low-flow" bathroom fixtures imposed on the nation's consumers.

AuctionArmsCeo I've added a way to Bulk Mark as Read messages. Also, you are only sent to the Message Center once every 24 hours. If you've already seen the message center in the past 24 hours, you're sent to where ever you were trying to log in to.

(no avatar) Dear Auction Arms staff: Please take a few moments and read all of the controversy that you have created with the "my Messages" system on this forum. You are loosing your valued auction dealers. I contemplated doing the auctions for years. What motivated me was a comment on you pages that "dealers have closed their doors to the public." If you guys don't dump the message thing, the beloved dealers will close their door to Auction Arms.
