Thread Title: "New Communication Feature"
AuctionArmsCeo Buyers and sellers can now communicate with each other through the auction. Any messages sent between buyer and seller are now posted into the auction. We've found that sellers were having to repeatedly answer the same questions over and over, and by posting their reponse into the auction, they now answer everyone else's questions, too.

AuctionArmsCeo HogHeaven, those are great ideas - I'm on it!

Wait a minute - are you talking about the messages that appear in the auction? Or the 'My Messages' feature? -manny

Petesguns Sounds like my wife whenever I wear stripes and plaid at the same time!

I am just wondering if the email is back to what it was. If it is, GREAT!!! Hopefully the problems Sportsmanssupply was having are gone as well.

The whole gist of this entire fiasco, is that we had a system that worked. (For the record, I have NEVER been not able to contact a buyer). When it was changed WITHOUT our input, we were rightfully miffed. Hopefully, IF a better system is found, AA will float a trial ballon on it BEFORE implementing it as a surprise. I will be trying some auctions again tomorrow and will HOPEFULLY find a system that takes no more effort than what was in place BEFORE this.

Thanks, Tom @ Petesguns

(no avatar) Dear Manny: I just sent an email normally right now.Earlier I did get an error message.I had an auction for 2 ruger magazines that merely stated sold and stayed there for several hours. It has now flowed through the normal channels and I received the winning bidder notifications. In case you were wondering I posted my problems not to complain but to make you aware of it in case it needed attention.Thank You for your timely response.

It is good to be working through these little kinks.I hope you obtain your objective to keep everything flowing smoothly.I was unaware of any communication problem. We never once have had a customer not pay us based on the argument that we didn't receive notification.I have no reason to doubt your word so I'll defer any further statements and just get back to making a living.I wish you well,Grant

Elitist I've never had a problem with the old system either; neither as a buyer nor as a seller. I think the "I never got the e-mail" issue arises thanks to spam traps and firewalls at the receiver's end, not the internal workings of AA's system.

I am very glad to see that AA is willing to work on this issue, and I can certainly live with "checking my messages" as the first step after log in. I believe the issue is keeping communications between buyer and seller private; so long as public posting of messages about an auction is optional, and at the seller's discretion (i.e., the default setting should be "private") I think most people, even large sellers, can live with it, too.

WILLIE TA IN 7 YEARS I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE E MAIL SYSTEM EXCEPT ON SOME SUNDAY NIGHTS WHEN AUCTIONS CLOSED HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS FOR THE WINNING E MAIL BECAUSE SERVER WAS OVERLOADED DAN TOLD ME..

(no avatar) Bob/Manny: As a long time seller on AA, I have seen a lot of changes to the auction site, and most have been a real improvement. Unfortunately, this is not one that falls into that category. In short, great intention...BAD IDEA! Rick (RICKSGUNS4U)

jackthedog Hi Manny. It appears that the system is likely here to stay. But after a rough start it also looks like your system is getting a little better, bit by bit. I'm OK with it so long as I continue to get the email addresses directly. I do not see the redundancy of the email system as a problem if I am not required to use it.

I see that you have added a "mark as read" button to remove answered questions, thank you. There have been times in the past where I have had a customer ask a question and then my email reply has bounced. I hate to admit it, but for those few occasions, I would probably use your new system. I would ask one thing. I think that the default on a reply to a message should be private rather than public. I find that I always have to click that button. It would be one less step for me.
