Thread Title: "New Communication Feature"
AuctionArmsCeo Buyers and sellers can now communicate with each other through the auction. Any messages sent between buyer and seller are now posted into the auction. We've found that sellers were having to repeatedly answer the same questions over and over, and by posting their reponse into the auction, they now answer everyone else's questions, too.

(no avatar) Well, now we have 2 reasons AA has changed the way emails work. The first was off auction selling now it's because of complaints about he said she said. Which is it - I'm inclind to believe the off auction selling is the reason for the changes. I, as others, have relisted a closed auction to sell it if contacted by someone trying to negotiate a better price after closing. Many, who always returns my emails and phone calls, and bob, who never returns a call or an email, as others have stated - you are looking at this from a greed perspective - how much $s are you loosing to off auction sales. I don't know and I don't care - as the other reputable dealers/sellers that use AA don't do that - they relist the auction. Now let me ask - Who is going to monitor all the emails to stop a seller/buyer from including their email address for someone to contact them directly. Off auction sales will continue even tho the good guys, which I would venture to say are the majority of your customers, don't do it and don't subscribe to it.

WELL I WILL SAY IT ONCE AGAIN. YOU GUYS ARE MAKING IT TOUGHER FOR US TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE CUSTOMERS WHICH TAKES MORE TIME FROM OUR LIVES WHICH WILL RESULT IN LESS AUCTIONS ON THE SITE OR GO TESTING THE WATERS ON THE OTHER SITE AS QUITE A FEW HAVE TOLD ME. DO YOU REALLY WANT THAT? THE END RESULT WILL BE SOMEONE SEEING THIS LITTLE WAR WITH TOP SELLERS AND STARTING ANOTHER GUN AUCTION WITH SUPER EASE OF OPERATION.

NOW PLEASE DON'T TRY TO LOCK UP YOUR BARN AFTER ALL YOUR COWS GET AWAY!.

Petesguns Say it like it is Herb! Seems like the feelings against are being ignored for the sole purpose of ending off-line sales, something that is not even a tangible number. I am sure though that a tangible number of upset sellers will fail to list new auctions. THEN we'll see what REALLY rules the roost around here. Methinks that the almighty dollar will win, but not until it totally ticks off those who used to deal here. Maybe by then it will too late, and the horse will be long out of the barn!

(no avatar) Manny: The only reason for the new systen is to stop off line selling. Please do not insult our intelligence by suggesting that this was done for our benefit. The only email problem that I have had is sometimes trying to get a email sent thru the AA system. There have been times that it has taken two or three transmissions for the member to receive my mail. Bob: I don't understand why all that has been said is not specific. As I read it, they do not want it fixed, they want it returned to the user friendly way that in has always been.

Petesguns Well, Purveyor, sometimes people can't see the forest for the trees. Sometimes they just have to be hit upside the head to get the message. Perhaps a good swift kick right smack dab in AA's wallet will get the point across. But, then, it really can't get much more obvious than the response to this junk, can it? My guess is that in a very short period of time, it is going to get VERY specific that they are losing MUCH more in lost auctions than they ever THOUGHT they were losing on off line sales.

Petesguns Jim, I think AA has done enough sabotage for a while. Seems to me they have sabotged themselves. I still do not understand their pigheaded stance on this issue. BUT I am afraid they are running into a few of us who are also pigheaded. Oh well, it is AA and the entire AA family that loses from this stupid addition. OOPS!!! Guess that is my inner voice, mouthing off again......Too Bad!

Herb, maybe that will be the kick in the wallet they need. But, somehow, I doubt it! Seems some guys got too much pride to admit they are wrong. Someone once said, "Pride goeth before the fall". Hope they come to their senses soon!

NWARMORY Hi Manny and Bob, I have just read this whole forum, I have thought of Auction Arms as a team or family working to a common goal (making $). Please remember most gun dealers are "cowboys" and do not like to be told what they can and can't do (or say). They are stubborn. Please remember most of the large dealers have been dealers since before the internet. We are listed in the yellow pages. We have exchanged business cards at gun shows. I would suggest backing up on the "new message system" and having meaningful discussion and then a "beta" time. We at NW Armory have not had any trouble with the "old" email system in the past. And the new system takes us more time to use. I hope this does not become a contest of ego's, -Karl

(no avatar) What about changing it to give sellers the option to reply by email as ebay does...in other words, the buyer uses the system to ask a question, the seller can answer via the system or via email. In ebay, I do it both ways, if its a question of gneral interest I use the ebay system and post it..if its not, I reply via email
