Thread Title: "How to post Pictures to the Forum"
AA-bob

Hi, Folks. Bob here from AuctionArms.com. This question comes up often, so though I'd post instructions on how to post pictures here in the system forum for ease of reference.

Here is how to post a picture to the Forum (or any other web page form that accepts HTML language).

First, you need a picture (obviously). It needs to be in .jpg or .gif format. Then you’ll need to put the picture somewhere on the internet (you can’t post a picture to the forums directly from your computer), so you’ll need a web page to host the picture. You can host a picture on AuctionArms. Simply log in, go to you account pages, click on the "Selling" tab and then on the “My Pictures” button. Click the “Upload Pictures – Old” and browse your computer for the picture file (our system will only accept .gif and .jpg style files, so be sure the picture you want to upload is in one of these two formats).

If you have multiples, use the regular "Upload Pictures" (you may need to load and install a bit of "Active-X" code we provide you . don't worry it's safe to load).

Once the picture is uploaded, find it in your “My Pictures” page. Double click on it. You should see the picture in a browser page. If it shows, you will notice in the address panel of the browser a URL address for the picture. It should look something like this:
http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010. Highlight this address and copy it (use "Ctrl+C" keys at the same time or once it is highlighted, put your mouse cursor over the highlighted address and right click it). Then click “copy” from the drop down menu.

Now, compose your message in the forum, and where ever you want the picture to show type:
<img src=”[paste the URL address here using the "Ctrl+P" keys at the same time or right click then "paste" from the drop down menu]”>.

(Note: we allow HTML language in our forum postings. This HTML is relatively easy to learn and besides posting pictures, will let you easily format your postings into paragraphs, add line spacing change fonts, etc. (do a web search for "HTML" to find some primers on how to use HTML).

Make sure you have the “<” ">" brackets and quotes, just like they are above with the URL address inside them, just like you copied from the picture address.

Your finished product should look something like this:
<img src="http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010">.

Seems a bit complicated, but once you've gone through it, it's not so bad. If the image is already on a web page, it's even easier as all you need to do is copy the URL address and paste it between <img src=" ">.

Repeat as required for each picture.

Good luck.

Catherder actual sends. BT

(no avatar) tbsea & CYRO......I will try my best to help you through this and it may sound confusing at first but trust me it works very well.

First you look at the top and you will click on List an Item.

That will pull up the page to select what you are listing.....firearms.....collectable ammunition....ect....ect...just like it use to be. Go ahead and fill in all the information and when you get to the part that asks you if you want to add a picture click NO.

Now that your auction is listed without pictures...here is what you do to add them to that auction.

1. Click on My Auctions

2. Click on My Pictures

3. Scroll down until you see...Upload Pictures and Click on that.

4. Select from left where your pictures are located and Click on it.

5. Over your pictures that should now appear in the box to the right Click Select All.

6. Click Upload files and this will load your pictures.

7. When all pictures have finished loading you will see a box that informs you that they are loaded.

8. Click OK....that will now take you back to Welcome to My Pictures Screen

9. Now scroll down and you will see a box that says "Select an Auction to add a picture" see it? Now to the right of that is a down arrow to see all of your auctions....click it and find the auction that you want to add the picture to.

10. Move your mouse so the cursor covers the Auction you want to add the pictures to and click on it. (This will highlight that auction)

11. Now scroll down and you will see all your pictures

12. For each picture you want to add click the select box (so if you want 6 pictures to be added to that auction you have to click the select box for all 6 of them).

13. Now scroll down and Click...Add to Auction.....

14. Your done and the pictures have been added and you can now go back to my auctions and pull up that auction and your pictures will be there.

Hope this has helped you and once you get the hang of it you will really like it better because it is much faster.

(no avatar) Once you click on Upload pictures it will show the areas on your computer where you have saved the ie. My Pictures. Click on it and it will up load to AA.

Just follow the above steps and you will get it.

(no avatar) I just did as Eldorado said it brings up my pictures, I have not seen or had any occasion to look at this page since AA quite using this method all the pictures are at least a year old I can delete them but no provision is made for getting any pictures to this site nor is there any way to use thumbnails. By looking at this we are taking a step backward there are several extra clicks if I could get this to work, I can't see where this will be faster. It does not much matter as my listings have run out now for the first time in years. I have emailed AA several times with no technical response, its time to look elsewhere to list. I do not have time to learn all over again all I want to do is list and sell like I have been doing for years.

(no avatar) tbsea++++ I post in two steps, first click on "List an item" follow it through and post your item on AA, your pictures won't be posted in the first step. In second step go back and look at your auction then click on edit your auction, there you can post your pictures. For a few items that I post this works for me.

(no avatar) Well I still can't figure it out, so I've switched to the other auction site. One listing is a $8500.00 Krieghoff (ouch! auctionarms). Give me a browse button as before, and I'll be back. When is AA going to learn, you can't teach an old gun dealer new tricks?

(no avatar) Thanks all for the information but KNs entry is talking about going back to edit every auction???? I must have missunderstood I thought the new way was suppose to be faster??? Also going back to "edit" your auction is there any provision to use a thoumb nail?? Certainly I hope this can be straightened out, I have been to busy the last few days to get in contact with AA and emails go unanswered where is AA Bob? we need his advise.

(no avatar) After many frustrating hours I finally figured out how to put up photos. I find it takes several more clicks than the old way it takes about twice as long to put an auction I don't see where this is any improvement at all. All this was done with no help from AA all emails and messages left on the two AA phone numbers are totally unanswered. My only comment is bring back the old method of putting up photos, I could look at my photos while I was typing the description now I have to go back and edit the auction not only to revise my description if need be but also to put up a thumbnail. I seriously question this is an improvement, but since I have been on AA for so long I will stick with it. What would be nice is some insight on this from the AA staff or AA Bob.

(no avatar) I have to admit after running the new way of listing I do like it I believe it is better and I know its faster to upload photos. Its a shame I had to be totally shut down for several days trying to figure it out, I appreciate all the information given by AA and other sellers, I have found that I still had to figure most of out by trial and error as for me it does not work the way AA explains it. I am back up and listing with no problem, I know change has to come about I can only hope the next change at AA is an eaiser one. There has been much discussion about this change but AA is still the best site on the net so I continue to use AA exclusively.
