Thread Title: "How to post Pictures to the Forum"
AA-bob

Hi, Folks. Bob here from AuctionArms.com. This question comes up often, so though I'd post instructions on how to post pictures here in the system forum for ease of reference.

Here is how to post a picture to the Forum (or any other web page form that accepts HTML language).

First, you need a picture (obviously). It needs to be in .jpg or .gif format. Then you’ll need to put the picture somewhere on the internet (you can’t post a picture to the forums directly from your computer), so you’ll need a web page to host the picture. You can host a picture on AuctionArms. Simply log in, go to you account pages, click on the "Selling" tab and then on the “My Pictures” button. Click the “Upload Pictures – Old” and browse your computer for the picture file (our system will only accept .gif and .jpg style files, so be sure the picture you want to upload is in one of these two formats).

If you have multiples, use the regular "Upload Pictures" (you may need to load and install a bit of "Active-X" code we provide you . don't worry it's safe to load).

Once the picture is uploaded, find it in your “My Pictures” page. Double click on it. You should see the picture in a browser page. If it shows, you will notice in the address panel of the browser a URL address for the picture. It should look something like this:
http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010. Highlight this address and copy it (use "Ctrl+C" keys at the same time or once it is highlighted, put your mouse cursor over the highlighted address and right click it). Then click “copy” from the drop down menu.

Now, compose your message in the forum, and where ever you want the picture to show type:
<img src=”[paste the URL address here using the "Ctrl+P" keys at the same time or right click then "paste" from the drop down menu]”>.

(Note: we allow HTML language in our forum postings. This HTML is relatively easy to learn and besides posting pictures, will let you easily format your postings into paragraphs, add line spacing change fonts, etc. (do a web search for "HTML" to find some primers on how to use HTML).

Make sure you have the “<” ">" brackets and quotes, just like they are above with the URL address inside them, just like you copied from the picture address.

Your finished product should look something like this:
<img src="http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010">.

Seems a bit complicated, but once you've gone through it, it's not so bad. If the image is already on a web page, it's even easier as all you need to do is copy the URL address and paste it between <img src=" ">.

Repeat as required for each picture.

Good luck.

Catherder actual sends. BT

(no avatar) I liked how user friendly AA was, it was so much easier to post auctions than any other site. The change has me at a standstill I will not be listing until I can hire someone to figure this out, as someone has stated its seems to be getting to the point where one has to be a five year college grad to figure these things out, while I appreciate the instruction AA Bob has given above, I will have to hire someone to figure I speak English and computer language is something I do not understand this is for the "Young" folks. To me it’s too bad that AA feels something has to be fixed that was not broke. It was working I have listed thousands of item in the years I have been on AA now it will be a while until I can get to listing again and this directly affects my ability to have an income and is very embarrassing to have to tell my consigners that I can't list there items. Again to change the listing method without any notification, at least I was never warned about it and its sprung on a holiday weekend when no one is available to me is very poor timing. I have been a supporter of AA and if I can figure out how to list again I still will be if I cannot I may have to go elsewhere.

I'm gping to sign up for some cp classes, but it is hard for old dogs to learn new tricks

AIC The new system is faster and easer than ever, why would a little change that speeds up loading photos bring you all to a screeching halt? Instead of adding photos first you add them last by highlighting the photos you want clicking add and then upload and in a few seconds you are done.

(no avatar) tbsea, I agree with your comment about warning us of this change by way of email and it also would be nice to have had some specific instructions with the email. After finally figuring out to go ahead and set up my listing and then add the pictures, the downloads to do this took less than a total of 3 minutes. Change is hard and I understand that. I thought the system was having problems rather than the selling format changing. All said and done I have got it figured out and I am up and running again and I like it. Hopefully the AA staff will read these comments and send a simple email advising others of the change and some simple instructions to accomodate this.

(no avatar) I would reply to AIC that in fact it does bring me to a halt I have not listed since last week. The form that comes up for me when I click list an item does not have anywhere to upload photos I went through all that already there is no place to upload any photos at the end?? I also always use thumbnails no way to do that either?? the form is not even correct otherwise, it is asking for caliber condition and make of a firearm that would be all well and fine if I was selling a firearm but I am selling or should say was selling collector cartridges and gun parts, the old way gave one the choice of categories, certainly I will be in all kinds of trouble if I list collector ammo under guns for sale. Until I can hire a computer person or someone at AA to tell me how to use AA again my listings have stopped. If you look at my history you will see I am not new to AA, I have been on here for years listing hundreds and hundreds of auction until now. Someone at AA decides a program that has worked for years and is not broke needs to be fixed?? I cannot believe I am the only one having this problem. It has been said we may all have to update out computers to list on AA I an running XP maybe that is the problem if so I will go elsewhere to list where this is not necessary.

(no avatar) tbsea & CYRO......I will try my best to help you through this and it may sound confusing at first but trust me it works very well.

First you look at the top and you will click on List an Item.

That will pull up the page to select what you are listing.....firearms.....collectable ammunition....ect....ect...just like it use to be. Go ahead and fill in all the information and when you get to the part that asks you if you want to add a picture click NO.

Now that your auction is listed without pictures...here is what you do to add them to that auction.

1. Click on My Auctions

2. Click on My Pictures

3. Scroll down until you see...Upload Pictures and Click on that.

4. Select from left where your pictures are located and Click on it.

5. Over your pictures that should now appear in the box to the right Click Select All.

6. Click Upload files and this will load your pictures.

7. When all pictures have finished loading you will see a box that informs you that they are loaded.

8. Click OK....that will now take you back to Welcome to My Pictures Screen

9. Now scroll down and you will see a box that says "Select an Auction to add a picture" see it? Now to the right of that is a down arrow to see all of your auctions....click it and find the auction that you want to add the picture to.

10. Move your mouse so the cursor covers the Auction you want to add the pictures to and click on it. (This will highlight that auction)

11. Now scroll down and you will see all your pictures

12. For each picture you want to add click the select box (so if you want 6 pictures to be added to that auction you have to click the select box for all 6 of them).

13. Now scroll down and Click...Add to Auction.....

14. Your done and the pictures have been added and you can now go back to my auctions and pull up that auction and your pictures will be there.

Hope this has helped you and once you get the hang of it you will really like it better because it is much faster.
