Thread Title: "Changes to our Listing Categories...adding Sub-categories"
AA-bob Hi, Folks. Manny is rolling out a long awaited enhancement to the site this morning allowing us to place sub-categories under major category headings.

This enhancement will allow your items to be placed in specific sub-categories under each of the Major Categories, like "Firearms: Rifles: Bolt Action" or "Firearms: Rifles: Semi-Auto:".

This exciting new feature, of course, will be a major enhancement that will allow Buyers an easier way to find what they are interested in and for Sellers to list items into more specific categories for increased visibility to buyers interested in that sort of offering.

We think you'll like this new feature.

You may also notice that some old major categories are now appearing as Sub Categories. Ammunition for example will now have the Collectible Ammunition and Reloading gear and components as sub-categories.

Although we've tested this new feature extensively, while Manny is rolling this out today, you might receive an error message when you are doing your new listings as we work out the bugs.

If you get an error message while listing items, please copy and paste the error message into an email to me (bob@auctionarms.com) so we can get on correcting the bug in a hurry.

We think you'll like this new upgrade, let us know what you think.

tomon Yone.... Won't that depend on the wording used and the categories used by listers? AA can't control that. Tom

AuctionArmsCeo For those categories that have subcategories, the seller will be required to choose a subcategory when listing a new item. For the time being, we're permitting folks to relist items without choosing an appropriate subcategory. But because folks won't be able to post an item without selecting a subcategory, going forward, eventually everything will end up in the appropriate subcategory.

AuctionArmsCeo I get the BIG MONEY because I'm the creative genius! Just kidding.... Mostly, I take someone else's idea and implement it - then I improve it and make it better.

AuctionArmsCeo Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I've moved Collectible Ammunition and Reloading Gear out of Ammunition, and gave them back Major Category status, with their own sub-categories.

gov2mod I don't know if anyone else has noticed this problem but I seem to constantly have to edit my auctions to put them back into their proper category. I put my scope mounts in the "Optics-Scope Mounts and Rings" only to find them in the "Optics-All other" section a few days later. Same thing with holsters. I put them in "Gun leather-hip rigs" only to find them in the "Gun leather-All other" category. I keep changing them, they keep changing back. Same thing with magazines. I put them in "Magazines and Clips-handgun" (or rifle, etc.) and the next time I look they are in "Magazine and Clips - All Other". I'm careful to "unhighlight" the subcategory area so I don't just scroll it into another subcategory and if that were the case it would scroll into a variety of sections, not consistently go to the all other section. Plus I scroll the opposite direction for it to go to "all other". I went in this morning and edited 49 out of the first 100 auctions to return them to their proper subcategory. Maybe I should just put them in the "All Other" in each category to begin with.
