Bubba,I won a Browning A-bolt SS 338 Win mag with a synthetic stock and a Boss System in excellent condition for $379.00. Suggested retail from Browning new was over 1000.00. The auction wasn't getting any attention and I sat with my bid of 400.00 punched in. The guy bidding against me had bid seven times for it. His last was 378.00. At 4 seconds left I bid and sniped his a$$. I love snipping and always do it even if it is something I really want. The thrill of the hunt I guess. trapper |

Hagrid, the answer to your question is yes, assuming the bid incement is $1.00, you would win at $502. The auction closes and all proxies are honored before the close. |

Petesguns: If and when AA ever institutes a minute rule of any kind, then, "Astalavista My Friends". Arnie put it a tad differently, but this a family site after all. ;O% And I will not allow the door to contact my derrière on my way out. Hagrid: That is what I'm talking about, the thrill of the "kill". FR&G |

| (no avatar) | Auction bidding is gamesmanship, pure and simple. Some are good at it, some don't want to bother with it, and some resent it. For the latter two, there are Classifieds or BINs. An auction capitalizes on the varied psychologies of the bidders all working against each other. That's the way it is, and that's the way it's always been. That makes an "auction". The proxy bid is a necessary, proper and mutually agreeable way of participating in the process. It usually works to the benefit of the seller. |

Hagrid: I have found this to be 100% true in my case. I'll tend to see something that I "think" that I absolutely have to have and I'll go out of my way to own it. Then..................after receiving, looking at, possibly using, fondling, caressing, and showing it off like a kid with a new toy..................the glow dims dramatically in most instances and I either sell, or trade it for something else. The only exceptions to this are family heirlooms and gifts from friends & relatives. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...................the hunt followed by a good chase.........these things cause parts of my anatomy & inner being to perk up and gets the adrenalin flowing like a raging river. I have in my gun cabinet, A custom made 243. VZ-24 action,Flaig barrel.birdseye maple Mannlicher stock, engraved spoon bolt handle. This was made by a local artisan who is now 93 yrs old and still tinkers. I first saw this rifle 39 yrs ago in the cabinet of a guy who was to become my best friend. I drooled over this for all that time and tried many many times to buy it.I have shot more deer with that gun than any I have ever owned and I BORROWED it to do it. He dangled it like a carrot for years. I finally had a rifle he wanted just as bad and we swapped. I haven't hunted with it once since. The desire is gone. You guys will probably see it at auction soon. It aint gonna be cheap but it is a one of a kind and a hell of a shooter to boot. trapper |

Jim, If I could figure out how to work this pic posting system here, I'd give you a peek at it. Very nice rifle. A little heavy but very little recoil. Great kids gun. trap |
