Thread Title: "How to post Pictures to the Forum"
AA-bob

Hi, Folks. Bob here from AuctionArms.com. This question comes up often, so though I'd post instructions on how to post pictures here in the system forum for ease of reference.

Here is how to post a picture to the Forum (or any other web page form that accepts HTML language).

First, you need a picture (obviously). It needs to be in .jpg or .gif format. Then you’ll need to put the picture somewhere on the internet (you can’t post a picture to the forums directly from your computer), so you’ll need a web page to host the picture. You can host a picture on AuctionArms. Simply log in, go to you account pages, click on the "Selling" tab and then on the “My Pictures” button. Click the “Upload Pictures – Old” and browse your computer for the picture file (our system will only accept .gif and .jpg style files, so be sure the picture you want to upload is in one of these two formats).

If you have multiples, use the regular "Upload Pictures" (you may need to load and install a bit of "Active-X" code we provide you . don't worry it's safe to load).

Once the picture is uploaded, find it in your “My Pictures” page. Double click on it. You should see the picture in a browser page. If it shows, you will notice in the address panel of the browser a URL address for the picture. It should look something like this:
http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010. Highlight this address and copy it (use "Ctrl+C" keys at the same time or once it is highlighted, put your mouse cursor over the highlighted address and right click it). Then click “copy” from the drop down menu.

Now, compose your message in the forum, and where ever you want the picture to show type:
<img src=”[paste the URL address here using the "Ctrl+P" keys at the same time or right click then "paste" from the drop down menu]”>.

(Note: we allow HTML language in our forum postings. This HTML is relatively easy to learn and besides posting pictures, will let you easily format your postings into paragraphs, add line spacing change fonts, etc. (do a web search for "HTML" to find some primers on how to use HTML).

Make sure you have the “<” ">" brackets and quotes, just like they are above with the URL address inside them, just like you copied from the picture address.

Your finished product should look something like this:
<img src="http://pictures.auctionarms.com/8038222630/58eabce5454a1a4feb52e188c2020f5f.jpg?aa=20070314113010">.

Seems a bit complicated, but once you've gone through it, it's not so bad. If the image is already on a web page, it's even easier as all you need to do is copy the URL address and paste it between <img src=" ">.

Repeat as required for each picture.

Good luck.

Catherder actual sends. BT

gov2mod All right, this problem is getting old real quick. It just took me hours and hours to get rid of all of these photo's removed from "My pictures" by sending them to the correct auctions and then deleting them from each individual auction. Now, it's filling up again. If I try to post a new auction I click on "List an Item" at the top of the page. At the top of that page I click on

PICTURE NOTICE: If you would like to add pictures first: Click Here (To Add Pictures Now)

and I add the auction normally. Everything goes good, another auction has been posted. I go to the "My pictures" section and surprise, all of those new photo's are now in "My pictures" as well. No wonder it had 252 photo's in there, I'll never win at this rate. I posted another auction only this time I entered the photo's at the end of the auction and so far they were not in "My pictures" as the others were. This sucks, it took me days of work to remove all of those photo's. WHY are they automatically being entered in "My pictures" when all I'm doing to to post them in the beginning of an auction? Now I've got to go back to "my pictures", send each photo to the correct auction and then go to that auction and delete them. I can't just delete them from "My pictures" because even though I ONLY posted them to the auction, if I don't go thru the whole song and dance of sending them to the auction first and just delete them, it will delete them from the appropriate auction as well. Have any of you others checked your "My pictures" section to see if yours if filled up as well? If you enter your photo's in the first part of the auction listing as I do you need to go there and check to see if your "My pictures" is also receiving those photo's.

Bubba J gov2mod: You may already know this, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,Don't add you pictures at the start of the auction, but wait until you have clicked on the button at the end to "I have reviewed this auction, now create it" (or something stated similar). Then it will ask you if you wish to add any pictures. Click on this and the pictures on your computer should appear after the system up loader has launched. Select the ones you wish to be in the auction and click on the upload button at the very upper, right hand corner of the upload area. They should upload to "My Pictures". Then click on the auction in the drop down box at the top, as well as the "Select" box for each picture and then 'Add to Auction" and they should go to the auction and disappear from your "My Pictures".

Have I got this somewhere near right anyone??

gov2mod FR&G, uploading the photo's at the end of the auction is how I have to do it now. I liked uploading them at the beginning of the auction as I could view the photo's first, knew they were there, and sometimes changed my text as I viewed them. This problem did not start occurring until somewhere between Feb. 16th until now. Prior to Feb 16 I always uploaded them at the beginning of the listing and they were not going to "My pictures" at that time. I'm not doing anything different than I ever did since we have the new upload system when listing an auction.

Hagrid You have to completely create the auction first. Go to the newly created auction and you will see a complete auction ready for the public. It is then that you add pictures.Go to my pics click, upload pics. This will take you to your computer files where you pics are. highlight the pics you want to go on auction and click add. This will drop the pic down to a lower section of the page. After you have choosen all the pics you want, click upload files and if you have choosen the auction you want, they will automatically attach to your auction and be seen. trapper

gov2mod Trapper, I've got no problem listing auctions and I've listed hundreds of them, thousands if you count before the new system started. The only problem I have is the photo's being sent to "My pictures" if I use the new system where you upload the photo's in the beginning of the auction. Uploading them at the end of each auction presents no problems and does not send them to "My pictures" as happens if I upload them first. The question I have is why did this issue only start happening in the last three weeks? I like the new system of being able to upload the photo's in the start of the listing, I just can't use it right now.

AA-bob Gov2mod, good detective work. Will check it on this end to see if I get similar results. If so will submit as a "bug" for developers to work through.

gov2mod Bob, thanks.

Former Seller: gov2mod(2196-0-0) Post#74 - Posted: 03/12/2009 at 21:28:37
gov2mod AA-bob, I've got an update. Now I can upload the photo's at the start of the auction listing and after I upload them they are now in "My pictures". However, after I finish the rest of the auction listing and then click on "I've reviewed the auction above-Create it!" and then I check in "My pictures" those same photo's are now gone. So, during that three week period in question all of the photo's I uploaded went to "My pictures" section and stayed there until I removed them. Now, they appear to be going there temporarily and then are automatically removed when I finish the auction listing. Have one of your guys fixed this or has the gremlin moved on to greener pastures?

Hagrid Gov, I believe that is the way it is supposed to work. Trapper

Hagrid I may be missing something here but my understanding of the NEW system is you add pics AFTER the auction is completely created. The OLD system allowed you to post at the beginning of the auction by clicking browse while the new system uses add pictures and upload. Trapper
