Thread Title: "Eaglesnest has hit a rough patch"
AA-bob It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. I spoke with Candy Brown-Wheatley this morning and it appears Leo has hit a tough spot and is in the hospital:

Get Well Cards and well wishes can be forwarded to Leo at:

Eagles Nest 4123 Hwy 2779
Hardinsburg, KY 40143

Leo, you are one of the good guys and will be in our prayers. Can't hold a good cat down for long! I know you'll be back with the herd soon!

(no avatar) You know ; I think sometimes our emotions and memories can play tricks with our minds .

I took my Grandson , Evan, over to the Old Backwoods Place today to hunt , but the wind was up so much we decided to try out a little rifle I had just bought .

We shot awhile and sat around the cabin awhile and decided to ride over on the West ridge . The West ridge is the highest place around and is where I went a lot while Mark was in Iraq. It seems like it is a little closer to heaven and just has a sense of peacefulness about it .A mighty good place to let your worries drift away .

When we got over there we got out and were looking at some fresh deer scrapes made since the rain .

While we were looking I heard a loud screech from up above .There was an Eagle just hovering in one place about maybe 75 or so feet up .I told Evan what it was and we stood still and watched .The eagle was using the wind currents to his advantage and would only move his wings ,ever so gently , just every now and then .He would drift around but stayed almost over us with his head always watching and would let out a screech once in awhile .

Eagles are not very common around this part of the country and I think this was the first Evan had ever saw .

A funny feeling came across me as I watched this magnificent bird of prey taking advantage of the creations of God . I couldn't help but think of Leo Wheatley . He was the one person that I ever knew that I called EAGLE and lately he had been on my mind a lot .

I knew if I said anything outloud Evan would think his Granddaddy had gone crazy , so under my breath I whispered . Is that you old friend ? At that instant the eagle screeched out again and banked with the wind and made a big circle and came back almost where he had left from .I thought for a minute and watched and then again under my breath I said ; Old friend , if it is you I do appreciate you checking on me and Evan but feel free to go on where you need to go , everything is fine here .

In about two minutes and without another sound the eagle banked with the wind again and drifted due West into the sunset and out of sight .

Was it a sheer coincidence ? I don't know . But call me crazy if you want , I have my own thoughts of why it happenned .

(no avatar) The story about the Eagle and me and Evan on the Prayer Hill happenned only in my thoughts .

It was not an actual occurance but the thoughts were real .

I can't help but think there is a reason thoughts like this come to our minds at such appropriate times .

The brain has so much unused space that experts can't explain and I don't believe God gave us all that extra capacity for no reason .

AA-bob That cat was coal-black and weighed about 20 pounds 2 seconds before that picture was taken, and if you don't believe me I've got some of the black hair in the cat brush I could send you and the scale he was weighed on is right behind the door in the bathroom.

It's not easy to tell in the picture but I believe the cat was moving right to left when the picture was snapped! LOL

(no avatar) The cat has nothing to worry about, eagle couldn't hit anything unless it is dark outside. I do have a question though. There is a local person asking about a black powder revolver I was given a while back. I was going to sell it and give Candy the proceeds but I can't figure out what the value is. I have looked in all of eagle's books, and I have even found it on the manufacturer's website, but there is no cost or value given. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what it is worth. It's a: Walker revolver (replica) 1847 model .44 calibur 9" barrel 6 shot ingraved barrel rounded foreward of the lug trigger guard brass, square A beautiful piece. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

AA-bob eagle-in-law, welcome to the AuctionArms family. Very nice thing you are proposing to do to help Candy. I expect someone here can help you with this question, but you might try the Gun Talk forum. I'll start the thread for you since you won't be able to do so on your own 'til you build up a bit of feedback. Then you can add the Manufacturer.

From your nickname, may I assume you are indeed in-law related to the late great Eaglenest? If so, keep the tradition alive and post your favorite Eaglenest story.
