Thread Title: "AuctionArms.com no longer endorses Gpal.net as our preferred payment provider."

AuctionArms.com no longer endorses Gpal.net as our online payment provider.  I have formally informed GPal CEO Ben Cannon of this decision.  We will continue to support those sellers who still wish to use GPal.net.

My question is very simple. Why in "Blue Blazes" does Auction Arms continue to offer GPal as a payment option????

To me this is like offering a alcoholic beverage to a  recovering alcoholic. AA & its’ membership know full well that GPal is a broken system/company but yet they still offer it to anyone who may, or may not, be aware of its’ current/past issues and problems. They know that it is a broken systen but yet . “Yea, go ahead and take another drink. It will make you feel better now………………………but just wait until the morning.” (OK 5th, no funnies here. This is a very serious matter to me and others.)

It seems to this AA member that they would be better off severing ALL ties with this company. AA has set themselves up as being seen by the entire world as “guilty by association”. Manny, Marcus, Mike, Bob, wake up and take a look see at what you are doing to your company. You are feeding it poison a tiny bit at a time. If you continue to do so, the end result will be that you have successfully shot yourself in the foot with a mighty big gun and killed a nice auction venue.

Rattler I suspect they don't care what we think or care to hear our opinions or to answer any questions that we might have --heck we are just someone to get money from --not to listen to or to care what we think---just lowly customer critters is all

Not that I am a large seller or anything, however, I hesitate listing anything for auction on AA until the GPal payment option is removed. Even if I don't use the option in a listing, I don't want to take the chance on someone paying for an item with it on their own.

Little Sorping - Could you, or someone else, develope a icon (red circle with GPal in the middle and a diagonal slash) i.e. No GPal in HTML so that those who wish to use it could? Overall I think that it would be a big help to all who do not wish to be associated with this payment system.

Bubba  - Is GPal still on your auctions as a payment option?  If it's not, all you have to do is advise the buyer post-auction that GPal is not something you will accept as a payment option.

5th - No, I don't have GPal listed as a payment on any auctions which I have listed past and/or present However, it is largely a matter of principal. If AA is not going to promote GPal as a preferred method of payment, then they should not list it as a payment option. In theory to me, it is like leading cattle to the slaughter or AA members to the edge of the cliff with a gentle push over the edge.

I had posed a suggestion to LS to maybe develop a no GPal HTML logo (red circle with GPal in the middle and a red diagonal slash through it) for sellers who do not wish to be associated with this dysfunctional company.

Bubba - Should AA also prevent the sale of guns which are generally known as being junk, too?

There is adequate info out there that GPal is not a great way to pay for a firearm, but until someone puts them out of business, then they're still a bonafide operation.  Every pack of cigarettes has a warning on it, but I open one every day and smoke every one in the pack despite the acknowledged danger of it.

You would be mighty upset if the Second Amendment were repealed because (as we all know) guns can hurt people.  Is there some great philosophical difference if AA were to say they won't allow anyone to use GPal for a purchase here because they've demonstrated that they are incompetent and can hurt people who need their money in a timely manner?

Give people the information and let them make their own choices, whether they be good or not so good.  That's called "freedom" and it's what this country is supposed to be all about.    Wink

5th - You have totally missed my point. I am not saying that AA should not allow anyone who wishes to use GPal from doing so. Simply DO NOT offer it as a payment option in their listing process.

To see what I am talking about click on "Sell A Item" at the top of this page and scroll down to payment options. There you should see GPal listed at the very top. In my opinion, in light of all of the issues/problems that members have experienced with this outfit, this is dead wrong to have it there, or anywhere else in the AA listing process.

If someone wishes to use it, by all means, let them step over the edge of the cliff. But AA should not be giving them a push by offering them the option to use GPal in their listing process. THIS IS FIRMLY SUPPORTING A DYSFUNCTIONAL COMPANY!! The rest of your analogy is not in tune with what I was pointing out and expressing my opinions about.

In no shape, form, or fashion am I, or for that matter, would I, EVER suggest that a persons' Constitutional Rights should be infringed upon on PERIOD!!!!

Take a deep breath, slowly blow into the Breathalyzer, and if it does not turn green (or what ever other color indicating intoxication), very slowly read all of my posts concerning this  matter again. I firmly believe that you will get a very sobering outlook as to what I am saying by doing so.

5. GPal problems on GunsAmerica(FROM A GUNSAMERICA E-MAIL)
We have an obligation to notify our sellers that several people have complained about not being able to withdraw funds from Gpal (formerly GunPal). We do not have any explanation for this and we do not believe they are a fraudulent company, but we have to tell you to beware of transactions involving them at this time. GunPal was started by bonafide gun guys from California and we have been very supportive of them becoming successful, without giving them an official endorsement like some other websites have. Even Paypal had growing pains in the beginning and a lot of people were hurt in the process, and this is why we didn't involve ourselves in endorsing them. We wish them well and hope they can cure their issues. Because as powerful as our merchant accounts are, you can't get away from a $35 minimum fee per month on merchant accounts and for many sellers this isn't realistic. We welcome a good payment option for guns that has reasonable Paypal-level fees. If you don't know this, don't use Paypal for guns ever. They freeze and steal your money when they find gun purchases. GPal is a gun friendly company, and hopefully we will be updating this information in the near future that it is safe to use GPal for your payment needs. "LIKE SOME OTHER WEBSITES HAVE".. COME ON AA DON'T GIVE THESE CLOWNS ANY TYPE OF SUPPORT..YOU'RE HURTING YOUR IMAGE AND CREDITABILITY. edw
