OK, I agree, Common sense does seem to be at a premium... especially in these forums sometimes. This requirement is in the Terms and Conditions to protect our buyers and will be enforced after the fact if a buyer complains he did not receive items pictured in the auction. Sellers, you CAN put whatever you want in the auction pictures, but you do it at risk of being requested to provide the item as a part of the sale as a result of violating this term. If you want to take the risk, well that's your business. I do use judgement and common sense of course, when adjudicating these claims, (No, of course you don't get the toes, the shoes, the parrot, the little dog, the gun shop in the background or any of the other silly examples proposed here, and I'll laugh at you if you ask). But if it's a close call, all benefit of the doubt goes to the BUYER. That said you sellers include items in an auction picture at your own risk. Some sellers for instance, try to take advantage of the system by saying things like "scope not included" or "Scope not included but available" On these, the scope goes with the deal as far as I'm concerned as it is either 1)an attempt to induce a buyer to bid thinking he's getting something he's not or 2) just an outright obvious attempt to conduct an off-auction sale after the fact or 3) just plain laziness on the seller's part. If some one wants to see how guns look in a holster, let them ask and send them pictures if you want. The bottom line guys is we don't want items included in auction pictures that would mislead a potential buyer on what he is getting if he just looks at the pictures alone. I do believe that our least common denominator on the site is barely literate. Pictures are powerful selling tools, as you all know, however words can be misinterpreted, missed or completely misunderstood. |
