Thread Title: "Changes to our Listing Categories...adding Sub-categories"
AA-bob Hi, Folks. Manny is rolling out a long awaited enhancement to the site this morning allowing us to place sub-categories under major category headings.

This enhancement will allow your items to be placed in specific sub-categories under each of the Major Categories, like "Firearms: Rifles: Bolt Action" or "Firearms: Rifles: Semi-Auto:".

This exciting new feature, of course, will be a major enhancement that will allow Buyers an easier way to find what they are interested in and for Sellers to list items into more specific categories for increased visibility to buyers interested in that sort of offering.

We think you'll like this new feature.

You may also notice that some old major categories are now appearing as Sub Categories. Ammunition for example will now have the Collectible Ammunition and Reloading gear and components as sub-categories.

Although we've tested this new feature extensively, while Manny is rolling this out today, you might receive an error message when you are doing your new listings as we work out the bugs.

If you get an error message while listing items, please copy and paste the error message into an email to me (bob@auctionarms.com) so we can get on correcting the bug in a hurry.

We think you'll like this new upgrade, let us know what you think.

gov2mod Manny, see I knew it wasn't just me. I might be wrong some of the time but not all of the time!

AuctionArmsCeo I think I've got this problem fixed. Let me know if any item you've listed since the 21st of March has suddenly "switched" categories. Please include the new and the old item number. Thanks.

gov2mod The only one I noticed was auction 7311905 today. It changed from grips to accessories. I'm certain I listed it as "grips" last week.

(no avatar) I had an auction sold today, and then I relisted because I have more of the item. It clearly was Semi-Auto Pistol. When I got back to Manage My Auctions, it said Accessories. I needed to Edit and change it back. If you would like the auction number, please let me know.

AuctionArmsCeo Absolutely. I need the auction number that the item was, and the new relisted item number. That would be a great help.

gov2mod I didn't have as many this week as last but still a few. Some of them I may have missed when I check last week. 7329317 is under Accessories, last(7300310)week it was also under accessories, but the week before when it was auction 7285777 it was under black powder. 7330818 is under Accessories, back when it was #7274588, it was under black powder

(no avatar) Hi Manny, the original number was 7295477 and the new one is 7334141. Hope it helps!

(no avatar) I just Relisted some items under "Firearms-Semi-Auto Pistol" and they ended up under "Accessories". Then I have to go back and Edit each Auction item.

AuctionArmsCeo That was it, rangerp. The problem was an "AND" statement that should have been an "OR" statement. When folks were relisting items that were in categories without any subcategories, using the 'Relist' process - not the 'Quick Relist' or 'Bulk Relist' process - the item would be placed in Accessories:New. If you used 'Bulk Relist' or 'Quick Relist', the process worked regardless of the what category the item was in.

So, for example: items in Semi-Auto Pistols, or Black Powder, or Revolvers - categories without any subcategories - when you relisted items in that category using 'Relist', the new auction would be placed in Accessories:New. Thanks for all your help in sorting this out - and your patience.

(no avatar) Manny, Great Job!

FYI, I am a software developer so I fully understand what you are dealing with. The simplest things are the hardest to find.

Manys the time that a missing PERIOD in a COBOL program caused untold hours of searching and debugging!
