The local shop I frequent now and again used UPS to ship a Browning for me back to Browning for repair. When it arrived it was in three pieces with tire tracks across the box. Luckily the dealer is a stand up guy because Unbelieveably Poor Service would not pay the insurance claim because some company called Crawford???? that handles their claims said it was not packed properly. It was in an airline approved aluminum hard case, (that had been all OVER the USA with me), that was crushed by a forktruck, AFTER the forktruck driver had pierced the case with a fork. Dont rightly figure there is about ANYTHING that will stand up to that. So, the dealer replaced the gun out of his pocket. He told me he had gotten screwed similarly by UPS on at least ten other claims, no pays from Crawford?? totalling about 6 thousand bucks. Whatever, he now uses FedEx and has not had a problem in 4 years and ships a lot. He has shipped several more for me with nary a problem. To each their own I suppose.

Hubs, if you are not a FFL 01 dealer, it is against the USPS rules to send ANY handguns via their system. But, if you want to try it, you may find out the hard way. especially if they can prove you have been TOLD as much by your fellow GA members. Believe us, you have been forewarned.

5th is right, what you are describing is a Buy It Now. If you start the auction with a starting price of $200, bids will be entered, until the planned end time of the auction, with the high bid winning the item. If a bid is entered in the last 10 minutes of the auction, the auction is extended by 10 minutes from the time of the bid, in order to try to replicate an actual auction where final bids are asked for, and it is going, going, gone. Some like this feature, some don't. That is another whole topic of disagreement. As a buyer, I dont like it, as it takes away the snipe. If you put a BUY IT NOW price on the item of say, $350, and someone wants it bad enough to take that option, THEN the auction ends with no further bids, unlike a real live auction. The starting price of $200 or whatever price you choose, is kinda like an open reserve that everyone can see. Most people hate the hidden reserves, so if you must get a minimum for the item use a start price. But, if you start it at a penny, it usually gets more as a result of bidders frenzy. Good luck.

I have a freind that lives in Massachusets. He got a DUI and lost his licnese to own firearms, and a sizable collection of guns, as a DUI is a disqualifier in that sorry state. Interesting thing is, he got his license to drive back, but never the license for fireamrs. backdoor gun control.

There are several states that do the "sales tax" collecting, but many of them call it "use tax" for items bought out of their state but "used" in their state. One state in particular is Mass because they are located next to NH who does not have a sales tax. MA gets their undies in a twist because so many people go over the border to buy stuff tax free then bring it back into their stupid state of MA. mountian hunter hit it right, both the buyer and the FFL handled it wrong. The buyer had a defensive attitude but the FFL wasnt much better, BUT he had the law behind him, and possibly in his face if he did it wrong. best bet is to learn the rules of the state you live in before you bid so not to get taken by surprise
