Seller's Description

Russian POSP 6x42mm, Illuminated Reticle

The POSP series is world famous for its quality and is current military issue for the Red Army. Any picture of current Russian operations in Chechnya and elsewhere show these scopes in abundance. The POSP 6x42 with 1000 meter rangefinder is a high quality rifle scope with a magnesium alloy body and fully multicoated optics. A great assault weapon scope with the patented 'Dragunov' marked metering grid, this illuminated reticle grid scope allows you to determine kill distance as well as to track and observe game in the field. The military reticle has an extremely effective and useful height-based rangefinder for dual use, with graduated scales for both standing and prone figure estimation. Extended distance inverted chevrons provide aiming points for 1000, 1100, and 1200 meters.

The POSP features a red illuminated reticle which allows you to make kill shots in dusk conditions. Illumination is provided by a simple diode (green and yellow LEDs are available online). The design of the scope allows for both lateral and angular adjustments quickly and easily so you always stay zeroed in.

It features professionally ground, crystal clear optics, nitrogen filling to prevent lens fogging, and larger diameter tubes for improved light gathering under the most severe conditions. It is waterproof and can be used in any climate condition. It comes with a high quality mil-spec medium-dark gray hammer finish, and a rubber lens cap. The batteries are good, and the illuminated reticule lights red as designed.

The SVD/SKS clamp will fit any of these rifles with the appropriate side rail: SVD, SKS, NDM-96, Russian Tigr, Romak-3, SSG-97 and PSL rifles.

This scope likely will not work on the following models, as the front of the scope will hit the rear sight: AK-47, AK-74, Vepr, Saiga, K-var, KBI, Hesse, Century and Arsenal USA copies, Romak1/2, SLR-93, SLR-95, SLR-101, MK-11, SAR, WUM, SA85M, WASR, Maddi, Norinco and Poly-Tech copies. If you own one of these models, you buy at your own risk!

Here's a link to a site offering this scope for $179. The only difference between the scope on and mine is the removable eyepiece. Is that worth the extra $40 or so?

Payment is by GUNPAL, or USPS Money Order. Shipment is by USPS Parcel Post or Priority Mail.

Questions for Users
Q:  Where can mounts to fit this scope to an SKS be bought ? 03/23/2010
A:  You can buy them at "www***GunAuction***bathunting***GunAuction***", or "". These are normally riveted in place, and you must ensure the rivets don't interfere with the operation of the rifle. I suspect you could also use a hi-strength epoxy or, better still, braze the side plate onto the receiver. This would bypass having to deal with new rivets. The side plate runs $10-$20, + S/H. 03/23/2010
Q:  Hi, Do you think that this scope will properly fit a WASR 10 if the rear sight elevator is removed? Thanks, FR&G 03/23/2010
A:  Removing the rear sight SHOULD would allow the scope to be mounted, but I won't guarantee it. You're trying to mount it on a rifle it wasn't designed for, so it's a bit of a risk for you. It's not a huge risk; if it doesn't work, you can always resell the scope to someone who owns a Dragunov! 03/23/2010
