Exquisite Maryland Signed James Marker Kentucky Tgt. Rifle

Offered here for sale is a very fine percussion

Kentucky rifle made by one of the famed families of gunmakers

from Maryland. This full stock rifle hs an approximate

.460 bore diameter, 42" heavy octagonal barrel length.

Signed on top of the barrel in flowing script is "James Marker."

Engraved lock with hunting motifs although mos

t is obscured by some surface rust and/or pitting. Brown

pinned barrel with exquisite brass buttplate, trigger guard.

Three ramrod ferrules and fore end cap. Front blade

sight and rear buck horn sight. Rifle has set trigger for delicate target and hunting use. Curley maple stock with cheek piece on the left side. James Marker of Sharpsburg, Maryland

, was the son of famed gunsmith Daniel Marker.

A wonderful display piece "as is" is this converted rifle and for the restorer an opportunity to recreate it in its original flintlock configuration.
