Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore but it needs a better cleaning.
Overall Condition: The slide and magazine retain about 65% of their metal finish. There is quite a bit of handling and storage wear. The right side has more finish rubbing (from storage) than the left. There are one or two freckles of surface erosion, - these hardly warrant mention. This was just a well used conversion unit, not abused though... The sight screws are marked a bit but serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, this conversion kit rates in about Good - Very Good condition.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This conversion kit comes in a Good condition Factory box and a 1951 Instructions manual. Both show handling wear and stains.
Our Assessment: This conversion unit offers the Colt 1911/1911A1 owner an inexpensive way of practicing with their pistol utilizing the same grip and sights as they would use with their .45ACP or .38 Super ammo. This unit has even been designed with a floating chamber that provides 4X more recoil than other .22 L.R. automatics, making it seem even more like your normal loads. If you shoot your 1911 a lot, we think one of these is a necessity, and it should quickly pay for itself. Even if you don't plan on shooting it, these are quickly becoming collectible and being from the early 1950's it would be a neat addition to your 1950's Government Model.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This Conversion Unit can be sold in California.
