INLAND ~ M1 CARBINE
VERY EARLY PRODUCTION, SN#2697
NO RESERVE!! Here's a super early M1 Carbine! Manufactured by Inland in the first couple months of production in 1942. The super-lower serial number is 2697 and the barrel date is 7-42. This carbine exhibits numerous early features including the high wood/I-cut stock, narrow barrel band, 2-position rear "flip sight", serrated long-face magazine catch, checkered safety button, slotted dog-leg hammer, etc. Most, but not all of the parts appear to be correct for this early stage of manufacture. There are NO import markings, nor are there any adjustable sight stake marks in the rear sight dovetail. Overall condition is very good with some wear. The original finish shows some thinning/fading and there is a small amount of what looks like cold blue touch-up on the barrel but there is no rust or pitting. The bolt, which appears parkerized, is actually faded blue. The stock shows the proper early markings in the sling slot but has a later style buttplate. The stock has been lightly sanded in the past and there was a large letter "A" marked on the right side of the butt. There are no indications of wide barrel band impressions on the stock nose however there is a good sized chip of wood missing from the left front tip of the nose. The wood is free of cracks. The mechanics are in good working order and the bore is in very good condition with bright, sharp rifling and a decent muzzle erosion measurement of about 2.0.
