Seller's Description

Fine Remington NM Police Conversion Revolver

Offered here for sale is a very

nice early post Civil War period Remington

New Model percussion revolver which appears

to have undergone a a factory conversion

from .36 to .38 SHORT CENTERFIRE. Original factory conversions included a conversion cylinder as well as a rear conversion plate. This is lacking the plate. The action is strong and it appears that the "hand" is functioning properly in that when cocked the hand protrudes presumably to engage with the grooves in the rear plate. This revolver

retains most of its original finish on barrel and cylinder

although thinning and turning in part to a very pleasing plum brown patina mixing with blue. The gun also had traces of original case colors which have now faded to a silvery gray mixture. The markings are still very sharp with 1858 patent date and "NEW MODEL" stamped on barrel top flat. Serial number 10024, it has a 5.5" octagon barrel, 5-shot with very nice and sound walnut grips.

Rifling still sharp, no rust anywhere-just a minor ding on cylinder. A very nice transitional Remington revolver which certainly appears to have been well cared for in its day. NOTE: THIS IS AN ANTIQUE REVOLVER AND AS SUCH WE DO NOT GUARANTY SAFETY IN FIRING NOR FUNCTIONALITY. IT CAN BE NICELY DISPLAYED "AS IS" HOWEVER IF THE WINNING BIDDER IS ABLE TO OBTAIN A CONVERSION PLATE IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FUNCTION AS A FIRING WEAPON. SHOULD ANY PARTS DEALER OR COLLECTOR HAVE THE PROPER PART WE AND NOT WISH TO BID ON REVOLVER WE WILL GLADLY PURCHASE THE PLATE FOR THE REVOLVER.
