Bore Condition: The bore is brown with surface erosion, the rifling is lightly discernible. There are spots of mild erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 83% of its metal finish. There are a few rub spots through the plating on the barrel edges and muzzle. The inside of the frame, flanks of the frame and front of the cylinder have brown patina and mild erosion. There are freckles throughout the surfaces. The case colored hammer still has faint tone, the nickel is mostly dull or milky. There are scattered handling marks, expected with pocket pistols from the 1800's. The screw heads are strait and the markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fair condition.
Mechanics: The frame does not have a loading gate. The hammer is spur-less with a checkered patch on the top, allowing single action operation. The cylinder produces nice tight full lockup with nominal back play. We did not fire this revolver.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: This revolver is a solid frame five shot double action pocket pistol built on an all steel frame with a case colored spur-less hammer and SOLID cylinder full lockup. It was designed with a nickel finish, a round butt and a 2 1/2” octagon barrel. It was made sometime in the early 1890's, we find its condition to be impressive for the role of a pocket pistol. With some elbow grease, it should shine again, it will be a great turn of the century display piece that will spawn conversations for generations to come.
