Mechanics: The cylinder does not advance in double action, the hammer cocks back and will index to the next chamber in single action, but if moved by hand before that process, it will go out of alignment. The cylinder lockup through full action has moderate play. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: Simple pinfire revolvers took the European market by storm after an 1846 improvement to Casimir Lefaucheux’s patent on a self contained cartridge; the new improved cartridge had a better gas seal and more reliable firing system. This revolver was made sometime between 1853 and 1893, has a nearly all brass construction, the bore is surprisingly good for its age, the grips and natural tarnish on the brass are going to make this a great display piece or part of your next Steam Punk / Western costume.
