Seller's Description

NOTE- This is a SIGHT BASE... NOT a whole rifle. Outstanding nice old original US Trapdoor Springfield 1870s 45-70 REAR SIGHT BASE, stript of all parts. Marked with a "R" for Rifle. PERFECT FIT for ALL Trapdoor 45-70s: Rifle, Carbine, + Cadet, as the screw hole placement was the same, start to finish, 1873-1893. No fitting required. Will make your Trapdoor 45-70 rifle, or carbine, look much better. At low cost. Yes, it fits carbine perfectly, only difference is the "R" instead of C", + the numbers. Identical body. Get this if you can`t locate a rare expensive "C" marked base. And, easily replaces the large, ugly, easily broken, poorly designed, overly expensive 1884 Buffington sight. Mine is attractive + graceful. Also looks good on Rolling Blocks, but screw hole distance slightly different. Some fitting required if your Rolling Block needs a sight base. Solder or epoxy with one screw does it fast. Excellent condition, not pitted, sharp markings, all the numbers + graduations. This rear sight base will accept all Trapdoor Springfield rifle + carbine sight parts; 1873, 1877, 1879 models, up to late 1883. Perfect, no fitting, or reworking. All will interchange. Just the base looks good on the barrel, from a short distance. Or, you can make up a metal, wood, or plastic notched insert, + use it as it is. Notch should be well centered. Rare opportunity. Very hard to find. If your sight base is bad, or missing, replace it now, easily + inexpensively. Also- well suited for an unusual historical, thru the Indian Wars, neck chain pendant. Yes, you can wear it as a jewelry item. Gun Parts Jewelry will get you more attention. Stand out from the crowd. Good peace symbol. So nice it can be worn as it is, does not need polish. Most likely was used in the Indian Wars by the US Cavalry horse soldiers, on the Western frontier. Your bid is for one rare original historical 45-70 Trapdoor Springfield Rifle REAR SIGHT BASE, with no other parts attached. MY BEST condition. Added Plus, if you request in payment letter, NOT EMAIL, I can include FREE my 2.00 one page single side informative leaflet- "WRONG SIZE SCREWS, HOW TO MAKE THEM FIT + HOW TO ADAPT LONG SIGHT SCREWS TO SHORTER USE". Rare valuable little known gunsmith fast tricks + shortcuts. Also- I can list any Musket + Trapdoor screws, as I still have all of them. Check, MO to- MICHAEL BARNES . NO PAYPAL. No pics, but let my 4,000+ stoneman61 ebay Feedbacks speak for me. Start it LOW at 19.95. Add 2.89 S+H. Include ITEM NAME with payment. NO RESERVE. USA ONLY. Satisfaction Guaranteed. I ship FAST>
