Description

Seller's Description:
This is a basic auction for a excellent US P-1917 Eddystone patterned after the Enfield, manufactured by Remington. This rifle was manufactured in October 1918. It comes with the correct model M-1917 bayonet. (no sheath). It also comes with the original Kerr sling and the Cleaning kit, oiler and oil resovoir in the butt stock. The stock is original to the gun and is numbered correctly. This is a rare find for the collector. Finish is standard parkerized arsenal refinish, Bore is very good no rust/pitting. Sling is fine. Oiler and cleaning kit looks correctly wrapped and probably never used. There is some oil staining (minor) and scratches on the stock. All normal for a WWI vintage military rifle. Bayonet is fine w/ 1 small chip out of the handle. Some slight surface rust. 30.06 caliber, 26" barrel and 5 shot capacity. Bore is fine and the action is very good. Anyone who knows about P-1917's knows this is a rare find.

  Questions from GunAuction.com Users...
(Public)
Q:  I find myself forced to ask about the cutt-out on the receiver ring. I don't recall ever seeing that before. What's going on with that? 12/05/2009
A:  From what I have been able to research, during the arsenal refinish in 1942-1943 a relief cut had to be made in the receiver to remove the barrel without damaging the receiver. If anyone out there can confirm or deny this please post your thoughts. 12/05/2009
