Seller's Description: A nice original period side by side for the cowboy action shooters or other early 1900s reenactors. This is a Remington Model 1900 Double Barrel Shotgun. These hammerless SxS shotguns were manufactured from 1900 until 1910. It is a 12 gauge, 2-3/4" chambers, with 30" Damascus steel barrels. The barrels are choked full and modified and are greyish in color having the Damascus pattern present. Damascus barrels are intended to be used ONLY WITH BLACK POWDER LOADED SHELLS which produce far lower chamber pressures than modern smokeless powder shells. The serrated top rib is marked with Remington's address. There are NO dents or dings in the barrels. The barrel to action lockup is very tight and the top lever rests to the center when the action is closed. The bores are excellent and shiny. The barrels have extractors. The receiver is shiny and retains some of the color casehardening. The checkered walnut forend and buttstock are in very goodcondition and have no cracks but do exhibit normal handling dings and small bumps from one would expect from an older firearm that has been used or hunted. The Remington hard rubber buttplate has a small piece missing at its very upper edge but has been filled in with a hard putty or some other material. The serial number is in the 3380xx range. This shotgun is mechanically in excellent condition and is fully functional but it is inteneded to use only black powder loaded shells. Any questions feel free to contact me.
