Description

Seller's Description:
This is a Swedish m41b sniper. one of the early samco imports, still having the orange samco inventory tag. Although, the plastic tie has been replaced by a rubber band. Barrel is stamped, "Samco Mia Fl m41b 6.5x55 germany." Rifle is a mauser oberndorf made in 1899 for sweden by germany. This makes it a rare version, although they all shoot very well or they wouldn't have made the cut when the sniper program started. Only the best and most accurate were considered and converted. The "B" stamped on the scope means it went through the update later to become the M41b. The stock is numbered in the channel to match the other numbers. A knowledgeable source informed me, when the rifle was "sniperized", a beech husqvarna stock was fitted and the bolts were either turned down or replaced with a forged husky bolt. The latter is the case here. Bolt is stamped 912 which matches the scope mount, can, bolt parts, buttplate, stock, barrel, and mount attached to the receiver. I cannot verify the receiver number, since the mount screws are punched permanently into the receiver. It also is pinned which is correct for the mount. The barrel bands don't match, neither does the magazine plate, or cleaning rod, which is also correct for these snipers. I have included pics of the barrel numbers as well as others. Scope is the "Ajack 4x90" which were made by the german company Jackenroll for the Swedes. When they got to about 3500, The order was supposedly stopped by Hitler so they could supply his own army. The stock is as received from samco and is obviously one of their first and best. the pics show the smooth wood. There are two holes in the top, of the butt, my guess is where a cheekpiece was installed. The bluing is near 100 percent. there is a scratch on the top of the barrel right in front of the handguard, shown in pics. The bore is mint and the brass stock coin is marked condition 2. The "Overslag" is marked 1. The sling is an original mint sniper sling. I looked for 2 years for a sling this nice to match the rifle. Rubber sewn in leather is still perfectly fexible. The leather is mint. Sling is worth 200 by itself in this condition. This is a museum quality rig, only being sold because of money problems. Otherwise, it would stay in the collection and be buried with me. One previous owner since samco and then me. I have 100 percent feedback on ebay as packrat898. I have sold about 8 guns on auction arms with excellent feedback. I collect only and don't do this for a living, so I don't build a story for profit. I will start listing tonight with 10 pics and add more tomorrow. Questions or comments are welcome, I gladly answer and post if info is helpful toward identifying rifle, either direction, since I want only facts toward a purchase this size.Added 8/19 I traded into this rifle from a man who had three. All bought together from Samco, by him, over ten years ago. I am sure of the history of the rifle from samco to me. Since this was a one of the high points of my collection, I never fired, or modified this gun in any way.I have read on a forum when researching for the description, that early samco's were marked under the stock on the barrel. I personally remember importers having to change this practice to a visible marking in an easy to locate spot, around 2000'? This could explain the two markings. The barrel band in the pic is located where the stock stops. The right mark is under the stock. The left mark is lighter and this would make sense if it had to be added in a clearly visible spot, making it less obtrusive, since we were complaining about the billboard print many importers were using. Hope this helps.
