Seller's Description: This auction is for a Winchester Model 54 in 22 Hornet. Serial # 42267A , built in 1933. Rifle has a steel buttplate and comes with a Unertl Hawk 4X scope. Bore is shiny. I don't think you can shoot out a 22 Hornet. The stock is showing it's age. The toe is chipped but not bad. It doesn't show in pics. The tang has a tiny crack and the checkering is very worm. There is light feckling on the bbl but still in good shepe. Bottom metal has no blue. This rifle has obviously been carried a bunch from the checkering wear but it wasn't abused. Nice old rifle. Q:  Does the safety clear the scope and operate properly? FYI that screw hole in the barrel probably has a matching one on the other side and was for one of the early style scope mounts. TD		02/22/2009
A:  The safety will not clear the scope. You'd probably need to put on high rings. I looked again and there are three screws. One on each side and one on top. Thanks Joe		02/22/2009
