Description

Seller's Description:
Two 1887 parts Winchester Lever action shotguns are for bid. N0 1 is complete, but missing internal parts and wood. N0. 2 is broken at the breach please note the barrel has been cut and a front sight has been welded. N0 1 has a barrel length of 26 ¼” I would consider the inside condition good with minor outside rust. The magazine tube is 13 7/8”. PLEASE NOTE --- NO 1 there is no front sight. No 1 doesn’t look like it had been shorten. If it has been shorten then the work was well done. The bracket holding the magazine tube to the barrel is complete. On the left side of the receiver has “RWA”.. The firing pin works. On the bottom tang “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. PAT FEB 18, July 20, 1886” The serial no is 9256. ---------- #2 Shotgun Is broken at the breach and the barrel has been cut. The barrel is stamped “10” The serial no is 31603. The magazine tube is original 15 1/8” long and you can see the shell follower plug still in the magazine tube. The 11 3/8” wooden fore ends are there. The lever action (elevator) is in good plus shape. I purchased these over 50 years ago from a Twin Falls, Idaho scrap dealer. He told me that he purchased a lot of scrap metal from the Hailey, Idaho gold field area. In the late 1890’s and early 1900’s it was a wild place. I bet these two were used as protection shotguns. Please read Page 360 Madis Winchester Book. It tells about the early days of the west regarding the use of shotguns. On the 10 gauge fore ends is mark in the wood -– “53 1F”. I have no idea what these stand for. # 161
