Description

Seller's Description:
A Three Barrel Gun Company, (A short-lived subsidary of the Baker gun Co.)US mfgr. drilling- 12 ga.x12 ga.x 32-40 caliber. THis is a very rare gun and one of the few US mfgr. drillings. It was made around the turn of the century. It is factory new and unfired with 100% original factory bluing and wood finish.(comlete with factory checkering)Beautiful 100% factory case-colored reciever. 28" barrel with flip-up rear sight adjustable for elevation. Bright bores. The rifle barrel is sharp and new.The bottom lever cocks the rifle barrel. The gun is well made but has no markings. The sale includes 2 reproduction Three Barrel Gun Company Factory brochures illustrating this exact gun. Super rare!!!!! I'm thinning my collection. Check out my other auctions of high end reasonably priced rifles. Read my feedback and bid with confidence! Addendum 12/27- After careful examination, I looked closer discovered this piece does indeed have a serial number(1768) and Patent date of Feb 13, 1900 on the reciever under the barrels. The SN is stamped on the barrels as well as the caliber 32-40 on the rifle barrel.I spoke this evening with an advanced collector of these rare guns who is quite knowledgeble. This company started out as The Hollenbeck Gun Co. in West Virginia. It made custom made 3 barrel drillings. It went out of business and re-orginized as the Three barrel gun company, which also failed and briefly re-organized as The Royal Arms Company. All companies made the same gun which were sequentially serialized. This piece is a Royal Arms Co. Gun and the rarest of the three. See the new issuue of Fladerman's on pg 747.

Q:  You say this gun is new, NEVER FIRED, made around 1900. What is the provenance of this gun, where has it been for 108 years. Also, when you say no markings, you mean it doesn't have Three Barrel gun Company or other markings? Just wondering if this gun has been completely refinished to the point that any markings have been erased. How long have you had it? I have German drillings and have been interested in an American drilling, but it needs to be kosher. mike 12/27/2008
A:  I bought this at a west coast auction 2 years ago where it came from a very old collection. That's all I know about it. I'll post pictures tomorrow from the Three barrel Gun Co. brochure where you can see it's identical. I've been seriously collecting for 20 years and know when a piece has been refinished. This one hasn't been. Why it has no markings is anyone's guess. This company was short lived and I guess it was assembled near the end of production, likely after the company had gone out of business. If you're serious, I can give you my phone # and we can discuss it further or if you live close to Sacramento CA, perhaps we can get together and you can examine it yourself. 12/27/2008
