This Mauser - waffen 135 - WW2 Mauser Factory .. is a very nice double set trigger rifle.. Seems to match ..I find no other numbers... Bore is about MINT..just a mirror bore !! No pitting or dark spots.. Scope is unmarked - except for the focal markings on the ring and tube. Optics are perfect... only bad feature is.. I see the scope is not 100% square in the rings..?? Maybe a soldier wanted it that way...maybe it got goofed up over the years..?? Can be easily fixed - but I do not want to touch it.
This was a Staten Island, New York piece from the 1960's. Nicholas Galante was the owner. He worked for the NY City School District on Staten Island and was a gun nut also who did Gunsmithing and bluing. I used to sit with him at his school and cast bullets at the furnace there.!! Nick had about 8 or 10 Sniper Rifles he had "acquired" from local Veterans..
I have many more pictures...not enough here.. Ask if you want more...glad to send them.
Forgot to mention...most of NIck's Mausers became HUNTING Rifles...One he built for me was in 30.06... It was a nice High Turret Sniper before he "rebuilt" it... Now..almost brings tears to my eyes remembering how many he "slaughtered".. But ..back then you could not get $400 for one !..................................................................................................................................................I HAVE HAD A FEW NOTES FROM GUYS ON THE STAR THAT IS ON THE BARREL>> ONE IDIOT SAID IT IS A "RUSSIAN" STAR ..???? DUMB AXX... IT IS THE "SS" PROPERTY STAR>> MEANING -- VERY SIMPLY -- THE "SS" USED THE STAR NOW AND THEN FROM WHAT I CAN FIND TO MARK THEIR WEAPONS.. LOOK IT UP... I DID.!!

Questions from GunAuction.com Users...
I would be interested to know where you referrenced the "Star" equals "SS" information. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
Backbone of the Wehrmacht for 1...page 203.. It is in many other places also.. Not a very oft used stamp from what I have learned.. If my friend WILLI were still alive I could add a lot more... But, sadly - he is gone. He was a Luft paratrooper - Senior Master Sergeant and knew all about this stuff..
Another Item that backs what you stated is the Star Appears above the SS Death Head in your picture.
Correct... The STAR was used by the SS only -- for their Sniper Rifles. The Russian Star would have been on the Receiver. The "Authorities" here are smart butt kids in my book.. top
That is a very fair offer...
Along with shipping -- it will do..
I read your description and see where your an expert on these sniper guns (you referenced your buddy a gunsmith and expert in NY telling you about them while you were casting bullets). Therefore I have the following question. I can't seem to recall ever seeing double set triggers on a sniper rifles before? Are these sniper rifles with double set triggers mentioned anywhere in reference books? How rare are they? Last question, Is the trigger housing numbered to the gun, how about the triggers are they numbered?
The double sets are rare -- but not "extremely" rare.. The rifle is ALL matching - floorplate and triggers included. All the GOOD Mauser Sniper Books show the double set triggers. TOP snipers got the double set -- and the higher power scopes. top
