This looks to be an excellent 22 rifle for plinking or stocking those whislte
pigs that are just coming out now. This is an old vintage 22 rifle. Top of
barrel stamped The Marlin Firearms Co.
NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. - EST. 1870 MODEL 88 - 22 CAL. LONG RIFLE ONLY -
PATENTED - Have had this stored and never shot it myself. Am selling to get
college money for my son, my loss, your gain. Book lists these rifles made in
the 1940's and 50's. I see no serial number on this so it must of been early.
It is a 22 cal semi auto tube fed. The tube is located in the butt stock of the
rifle and I am not sure how many it will hold. Barrel and receiver have a few
marks but looks to contain most of the original blue. Pretty nice. Elevator
ramp for rear sight missing but would be cheap, easy fix, from any gun shop.
22" barrel and bore is excellent. Wood looks to be nice hard wood, no splits,
no cracks. Does have lots of character lines, marks, and rubs but still has a
very good finish on it. The finish workmansip on the stock appears somewhat
vintage and must be the quality of that time because it does look original.
Trigger guard shows some wear on edges also and matches the stock in
workmanship. Sold "as-is" so please ask if more info needed. *****PLEASE READ
