A DOUBLE BARREL PERCUSSION THAT WOULD BACK DOWN
ANY MAN OR BEAST!!
A very tight and all original HOWDAH Pistol in what "I"
believe is .577 Caliber. As you will note in the many photos, a 410 shotgun
shell brass end will fit in the bore. Sold as a Collector only, however, I do
believe that you could shoot this one after an inspection by a competent
Gunsmith. The barrels are 4 ½ inches long, and the overall length is
approximately 10 inches. Fits very nicely in your hand, and I have large
hands, locks up on half and full cock, hammers come down with sufficient force
to do their job. Ramrod may be hand made; however, it has been in this
antique for many years. I cannot find any name or marks on this rare pistol
anywhere; I have not taken it apart or turned a screw. It does look like some
of the very old Richards or North type. These types of pistols are selling
well into the two and three thousand dollar range, so, you better jump on the
wagon with this one. As well, I've been advised by some "experts" that these
were also known at times by "Travelers Pistols", and prior to the "British
Bulldog Revolver", were considered a "Weapon of Mass Destruction" in the old
West. I don't know the exact date of manufacture, but, would say it is around
the 1850's. - Have fun and Bid with Confidence
