Action Type: Double and Single Action Swing Out Cylinder Revolver.

Markings: The left side of the barrel is stamped, “Smith & Wesson”. The right side of the barrel is stamped, “.44 Magnum”. The right side of the frame is marked with the S&W roll mark, and the usual, “Made In U.S.A. / Marcas Registradas / Smith & Wesson / Springfield, Mass.” The inside of the frame is marked with the serial number, “N629281 / 29-2”, and the arbor is stamped “89239 / F1”.

Barrel Length: 6”

Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a serrated ramp front sight with a red insert, and a windage and elevation adjustable white outlined rear sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are custom Herret's aftermarket dark varnished wood. The inside of the grips have a label marked “Philippines” and may be Coco Bolo wood. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue, with jewelled trigger and hammer.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is shiny and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is a slight drag line around the cylinder and a bit of a scuff on the left side of the barrel beneath the Smith & Wesson marking. The Screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine - Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly; the cylinder rotates, and the trigger trips the hammer in both single and double action modes. We have not fired this gun. The jeweling and the trigger job was done by Pachmayr.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The grips are very fancy, hand-filling, custom wood grips. Also, the barrel has been Magnaported.

Our Assessment: The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is generally considered to be the King of Handguns. Popularized by Clint Eastwood in the “Dirty Harry” series of movies as the “World’s Most Powerful Handgun”, it is still a handsome and powerful revolver! Chambered in the incomparable and extremely powerful .44 Magnum caliber, this combination of gun and cartridge have taken virtually every game animal. It is a bruiser, though, but this has been attended to with the hand filling custom wood grips, and the Magnaporting , which serves to attenuate the recoil of this powerful cartridge considerably. It also features custom jewelling on the trigger, as well as on the wide target hammer. The Model 29 will also shoot less-powerful .44 Special loads for comfortable plinking or target practice. Powerful, accurate, robust, and reliable, the Model 29 is a handful of great American gun. This one is in beautiful shape, and will make a very happy owner of the lucky winning bidder!

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This revolver is not on the California “Roster of “Certified For Sale’ handguns, and can only be transferred to a California resident as a private party transaction (PPT) at our shop in Simi Valley. This does not apply to out of state purchasers.

Your item will be shipped within 1 week of receipt of good funds, usually the next day. You will receive an automatic notification with a tracking number upon shipment, to let you know that we have received funds. If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick your item up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (M-F, 8-5).

This gun can only be shipped to an FFL, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. If you would like to be notified when we receive your payment, please obtain a tracking number from your carrier. We receive about 40 checks a day and do not have the staff required to email everyone when we receive checks.

Payment:

Full payment on non-layaway items is required within 14 days. We accept Cashiers Checks, Money Orders, Cash and Personal Checks. No Credit Cards or electronic payments are accepted. To help us properly apply your payment, please indicate what item you have purchased when payment and/or FFL are sent. If you would like to be notified when we receive your payment, please obtain a tracking number from your carrier. We receive about 40 checks a day and do not have the staff required to email everyone when we receive checks.

CA Sales tax applies to CA buyers (7.25%).

Layaways are offered on all items, requiring a 20% non refundable down payment within 7 days of the auction’s close and the balance within 60 days. We do not require prior notice to place an item on the layaway. No returns are accepted on layaway items and the item will be considered abandoned after 60 days.

Successful Bidder Instructions:

You will be invoiced by the morning following the sale. This invoice will include totals for the sale and all instructions.

If you win an item and are not willing or able to complete the sale, you will be liable for 5% of the sale price.

Returns (less shipping) are accepted within 3 days of when the item is delivered with signature confirmation. Returns are very costly for both the buyer and for us, so please ask all of your questions before bidding and please be sure you can legally purchase this item.
