Description

Seller's Description:
LSB#: 111006VH40

Title: Springfield M-1A .308 Win Semi Auto Rifle w/ 4-16 x 50 Scope (M-14) – No Reserve

Make: .Springfield Armory

Model: M-1A

Serial Number: 064562

Year of Manufacture: Modern

Caliber: .308 Win.

Action Type: Semi-auto.

Markings: The receiver is marked “US Rifle M1A / Springfield / Armory / 064562”. The barrel is a Springfield Geneseo IL marked barrel.

Barrel Length: 25 inches

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a winged post front sight, with a windage and elevation adjustable rear aperture sight, surmounted with a terrific Millett 4 - 16 x 50 scope. The scope has fine cross hairs and both horizontal and vertical mil-dots. The optics are clear and very serviceable, with only light marks that are near impossible to see and should clean.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are oiled wood, in very nice condition. The forward handguard is fiberglass. There are a few minor nicks and scrapes along the magazine well, none of them significant. The LOP measures 13 1/2 inches. The stocks rate in about fine overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is shiny and bright and the rifling is sharp. There is evidence of use, but not abuse.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some minor marks, mostly on the bolt handle and trigger guard. There is some scratching through the finish on the scope mount, perhaps from attaching, dismounting, and remounting the mount. The Screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this gun rates in about excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions smoothly and correctly, although we have not test-fired this gun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The Millett Mil-dot scope which is attached and no magazine.

Our Assessment: The M-1A, built on the M-14 platform, is a terrific rifle. Still in combat today, as the go-to rifle when a hard-hitting cartridge is needed. This offers the advantages of both knock-down power and enhanced range over the somewhat anemic 5.56 cartridge, the M-1A makes a fine battle rifle, or in this configuration, a thoroughly capable modern sniper rifle. the Millett scope is powerful and clear, enhanced with Mil-dots for precise shots out to the maximum effective range of the powerful .308 cartridge for which it is chambered. The rifle is a battle-tested warhorse; the build quality is terrific; this is a great rifle that is going to make a very happy owner of the lucky winning bidder.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This rifle can be transferred in California.
