Markings: The left side of the slide is marked "Remington Rand Inc. / Syracuse, N.Y. U.S.A.". The left side of the frame is marked "AA / FJA / P". The right side of the frame is marked with the Springfield Crossed Cannons and then "United States Property / No 912556 / M 1911 A1 U.S. Army". The right trigger guard bow is marked with a "1" and the left is marked with what looks like a "Y". The barrel is marked with an "HS" and a "P".

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with standard 1911-A1 sights. The front is a fixed ramp and the rear is set in a dovetail.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are checkered plastic. The grips are reasonably sharp though warn and free of cracks or losses.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: As Arsenal Reapplied

Bore Condition: The rifling is bright and sharp, with just the slightest bit of fouling. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows primarily storage wear. The right side of the slide and the lower right side of the frame show some finish loss and surface marking, certianly from poor storage. The gun otherwise shows light finish wear to the edges, slight aging but no pitting, erosion or surface rust. If stored a more properly, the gun would rate considerable better. The Screw heads are sharp, showing only a few turnings. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about very good - fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions well though we did not test fire this gun.

Box & Accessories: None. One unmarked blued magazine is included.

Our Assessment: This gun practically won WWII for the US. This is an example of the greatest sidearm ever carried by a world power's military. To this day, no more reliable, stronger, or robust pistol has been designed and our troops still carry itterations of the 1911. This gun shows the acceptance, inspection and arsenal markings. The frame is likely an Ithaca, as inspected by FJA and then returned to Agusta Arsenal for a rebuild, at which time it was matched to its Hi Standard barrel and Remington Rand slide. This is just a good honest example of a WWII 1911-A1, as rebuilt by one of the US Arsenals.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun can be sold in California, as C&R handguns are exempt from the Roster. This gun is not available for a private party transfer. This does no apply to out of state buyers.

Shipping:

USPS Insured shipping will cost $25 to an FFL, $35 to a C&R. The price difference is because handguns cannot be shipped via USPS to a C&R holder, only to an FFL and therefore a private carrier must be used. Reference: Title 18, United States Code, Chapter 83, 1715 and U.S. Postal Code 601.

Your gun will be shipped within 1 week of receipt of payment, usually the next day and you will receive an email notification with a tracking number upon receipt of your payment to let you know that we have received it. If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick the gun up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (unless the gun is not available in California, as noted above).

This gun can only be shipped to an FFL or a C&R, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. Please include a copy of your dealer’s license with payment. We will need CLFD numbers for CA FFL’s to ship. We are FFL dealers and comply with all Federal, State and Local laws.

Payment:

Full payment on non-layaway items is required within 14 days. We accept Cashiers Checks, Money Orders, Cash and Personal Checks. No Credit Cards or electronic payments are accepted.

CA Sales tax applies to CA buyers (7.25%).

Layaways are offered, requiring a 20% non refundable down payment within 7 days of the auction’s close and the balance within 60 days. No returns are accepted on Layaway items.

Successful Bidder Instructions:

You will be invoiced the morning after the sale. This invoice will include totals for the sale and all instructions.

If you win an item and are not willing or able to complete the sale, you will be liable for 5% of the sale price.

Returns (less shipping) are accepted within 3 days of when the item is delivered with signature confirmation. Returns are very costly for both the buyer and for us, so please ask all of your questions before bidding and please be sure you can legally purchase this item.
