Description

Seller's Description:
LSB#: 110322RB2

Make: Smith Corona

Model: 1903 A3

Serial Number: 3644044

Year of Manufacture: Mid WWII, Rebuilt likely in late 1944

Caliber: .30-06 SPRG

Action Type: Bolt Action Rifle.

Markings: The receiver is marked "U.S. / Smith-Corona / Model 03-A3" and the serial number. The barrel is marked "R. A.", a flaming bomb and "8 44". The stock has several markings: 1) the left side of the stock above the trigger guard has an "LSA" in a rectangle (light), and at the wrist "OC" in a rectangle. 2) on the bottom side of the stock, behind the trigger guard, a large "P" and a smaller "P" in a square. There is a “BF” on top of the bolt and an “F” on the underside. There is an R on the right rear of the bolt.

Barrel Length: 24"

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a hooded blade front sight marked "US" with a flaming bomb. The rear sight is the standard elevation and windage adjustable 03A3 sight.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock(s) is/are wood in good condition servicable condition. The stocks were originally oiled but are showing signs of drying out. We do not believe the wood has been sanded.

Type of Finish: Military Parkerized

Finish Originality: All original, as arsenal refurbished.

Bore Condition: The rifling is shallow but the bore is bright. There is some minor surface erosion in the grooves.

Overall Condition: This gun retains about 90% as refurbished. The balance of the finish shows just minor use/wear. The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in about fine to excellent as refurbished condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly..

Box & Accessories: There is no box.

Our Assessment: This is a good example of a WWII 1903A3 by Smith Corona. It appears to have been arsenal refinished at some point, with a mix of Remington and Smith Corona parts. The features are correct but not matching. A better than average condition 1903A3.

CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This gun is California legal.
