Buyer Tip: If you're the High Bidder in an auction when it closes, don't assume
you're the final High Bidder. Someone could outbid you in the final seconds of the auction
if your Max Bid isn't high enough. You're not the High Bidder until you've been notified by email
that you are. All Auctions are conducted in Pacific Standard Time.
For sale is a Springfield M 1898 carbine in cal. 30-40. Initially there were five thousand Model 1898 carbines made. In mid December of 1898 and the first part of January of 1899 three thousand 1898 rifles were made into carbines. This was done due to a projected shortage of carbines for the Philippine Insurrection. These carbines are quite rare. As confirmed by the serial number, this is one of those carbines. It is in rather good condition and has a decent bore. It has not been messed with except that someone has added sling swivels. These are unusual for 98 carbines in that they do not have saddle rings and they have a different front sight than the first five thousand carbines. This must be sent to an F.F.L. or C & R license holder. No sales to California. If anyone has any questions, please call 360-785-4802 and ask for Ed, Linda, or Mary. We will be glad to try to answer any questions that you may have.
