| (no avatar) | As per the Texas State Comptroller... It is our responsibility to inform people of their obligation to go to the Texas State Comptroller and report that they have purchased an item out of state via the mail and they owe and want to pay the state sales tax on the item per the invoice. We do so when the subject comes up. I have every confidence my customers are lining up outside the tax collector's office to pay the taxes due (grin). I do know one guy that told me he actually did it ... Charli |

| (no avatar) | RAS - A sales tax is one of many ways our government squeezes us. You just have higher property taxes. I don't know, but what are your state gas taxes and meal taxes? How much of your "Live Free or Die" money is being wasted on your education budget and other inefficient government programs? Believe me, you're getting screwed like the rest of us. Of course, I really like those traffic jams created by the tolls your state charges on I95 by the beaches. And the way the speed limit drops to 55MPH - nice to see your troopers hard at work writing tickets and adding to the treasury. Always leaves a warm and fuzzy feeling for New Hampshire on my way up to Maine. |

| (no avatar) | I've never had a problem with a state trooper pulling over some a**hole doing 80MPH with a cellphone in one hand endangering my life. I can't stand speedtraps where a 4 or 6 lane highway drops down to 55MPH just to pad the state's coffers. New Hampshire does this between Massachusetts and Maine along their beach roads and inflicts tolls on the very people they want to come and spend their money to keep them from having a sales tax. I either stop at Salisbury in Mass. or go on to Maine and don't give them any more $$ than I have to. |

Kenden, who has the cellphone in their hand, the speeder, or the trooper? LOL! Seriously, at least out in the western part of the state, the communications for the MSP is quite marguinal, and in many places their radios do not work, so they must resort to cellphones. It is VERY common to see the TROOPER go blazing by you at 80 MPH or better with a cellphone glued to THEIR ear as well. I have no problem with that if they are on a call, but when when they breeze by you at 80 only to be found 3 miles down the road at a Dunkin' Donuts or the local convenient store getting their coffee, it gets under the skin. As an EMS provider, I have unwound a few troopers AND local cops from around a tree or telephone pole after a high speed chase for donuts. Of course, it usually is that all time faithful excuse that "a deer ran in front of me"! I guess that the thing that bugs me is the double standard that ALWAYS applies when one of them steps on his crank. It always gets covered over, but woe be unto you or I if WE did it! |

| (no avatar) | I've never seen a trooper speeding with a cell phone! It's the drivers! I've said it before and I'll repeat myself. I'm all on the side of the Staties and the rest of the police. God help us all if we didn't have them. I have a problem with speed traps that have nothing to do with safety, but just are revenue sources for already fat government treasuries. We have one in the town next to me. The limit drops from 45 to 25 for a couple hundred yards for no reason. |

As with any group of people there are always a small percentage of idiots. The vast majority of police officers are great. I really have no problem with ANY officer doing their job. However, when a double standard is imposed, I do find myself getting upset. Out here in the western part of the state of Massholeachusetts, we seem to get a higher percentage of newbies who are from the more populated, and crime ridden, eastern end of the state, and are sent out here to train. Alot of these guys think they are still in Boston, and don't realize that the far western reaches of MA are nothing at all like Boston. Most of them quickly adjust to reality, however. |
