Thread Title: "First time buyer"
(no avatar) Just got my first bid on an item I have listed. Checked his feedback. 0 feedback and member since May 2007. His email address is a little scary. Don't know if I can list it here without violating and AA policies. I know we all start off with 0. As long as he follows all AA directions regaring FFL's etc. I should have no problems??

(no avatar) marcus at AA, Thanks for the offer. Looks like the deal is going through just great. Guess I just had a bad vibe - MY MISTAKE - could not ask for a better buyer. Gun is on the way and all looks well. Guess I just have to learn to trust the screening AA does. Turned into a Great sale and could not have asked for a better buyer.

(no avatar) UM, am I in the right place here. Not sure if I want to be here now after reading this thread! With over a thousand positives on ebay, am I going to have a problem bidding on a gun or anything else because I'm a newby at AA. I was a 0 on eBay, I bid on a box of bullets and the seller canceled my bid. 6 years later when I see something I'm looking for and if I land on one of his listings, I still hit the back button and look elsewhere. I let 0 feedback bid on all my auctions both here and eBay they have to start someplace, we all did. Did any of you have a seller cancel your bid when you were new? To tell you the truth, I have left negative feedback for a guy with 340+ and 4 negs feedback for not completeing the auction on eBay. Anybody can stiff you and I know first hand what a pain in the butt to go through the BS to get your listing fees back. But I consider it part of the business we're in. Jim

5thcommjarhead Jim - Give AA a chance. With all of the scammers out there and a pretty stable customer base here at AA, you'll understand why some of the sellers are leery of new guys flocking over from evilBay. BTW, I got burned on evilBay for a Mauser stock by a guy who had a lot of positives, too. All any of us can do is be as careful as possible, check feedback, and hope for the best. Besides, evilBay does not have anything remotely comparable to the Mighty and Omnipotent Catherder and his Barbed Whip, one of the main reasons I trust this site implicitly.

Elitist I don't think a seller can "cancel" a bid here. He can block an individual or he can use Bidder Screening to set a "no negatives" or "at least one positive" condition for bidding, but in the absence of these filters, if a bid is placed it's placed, and there's no way either party can rescind it.

This isn't E-Bay, and having dealt with this site and E-Bay extensively for the past 7 years I can assure you that you'll be much happier here. Don't sweat the 0-0-0, everyone started that way. A few sellers won't take bid from people without feedback, but it's rare. Very rare. Bidder screening costs extra and it's usually used only for high-dollar items, so far as I can tell.

argentine Slipnround, you won't be sorry for hooking your wagon to AA. The management take an active role in making sure that crooks and swindlers are weeded out and that whiners and soapboxers have a forum. They call it like it is and that is from someone who has had to take his comeuppance on occasion. This is a site where you can be completely detached and use it solely as a business tool or you can get involved in fund raising, helping the less fortunate, getting great recipes and even making email friends (and adversaries). This is a place where someone lets us know they have a problem and we come up with a fun way to help them solve it. That goes from selling interesting and unique items to raise money for members with health problems to reading great poems and prose submitted by some of our more talented members. AA is what you make of it... but the catherders won't let you be victimized or predatory...and that while handling more type A personalities than a Marine Drill Instructor..

5thcommjarhead Argentine - Type A Personality? Who are you calling a Type A Personality? You calling me a Type A Personality? Why, I'll punch you in the snot locker so hard they'll have to hospitalize your entire family. I'll tear you limb from limb. I'll.....

Sure glad I'm not one of those Type A Personality fellers.

5thcommjarhead Oh, yeah? Ask the WWI Krauts if I'm not a dangerous combination. They called the Marines teufel Hunden ("Devil Dogs") and the Scots Highlanders "The Ladies from Hell".

It's just a good thing I'm not Type "A".
