Thread Title: "Affordable Care Act"
Twelvette16

Recent data illustrate the benefits of the often-maligned Affordable Care Act, referred to by many as "Obamacare".

According to Medicare"s Office of the Actuary, which handles economic estimates, the average senior who falls into the Medicare Part D "doughnut hole" pays only $901 in 2011.  Without "Obamacare" the average out-of-pocket expense would have been $1,504.

A provision of the Part D prescription drug law requires unlucky seniors whose drug costs exceed $2.930 during a calendar year to pay for 100 percent of their remaining costs for that year till out-of-pocket expenses reach $4,700.  For the initial $2.930, the majority of the cost is paid by the health insurer.

The new law requires pharmaceutical companies to offer a 50 percent discount on brand-name drugs to seniors who enter the doughnut hole.

This is why out-of-pocket expenses are so much lower this year for those who have Medicare Part D policy.

Also, a report from a study done at Georgetown University concluded the number of children without health care has dropped by 1 million, a 15 percent decrease since 2008.  Experts say the Affordable Care Act, which requires states to maintain income eligibility levels and discourages other barriers to improvement, has been responsible for the result.

Voters in 2012 should not forget that every Republican candidate for president has vowed to repeal "Obamacare."

FG  The plan is just starting to be implemented ,in fact with all the negative stuff out there ,this was the first positive stuff I could find. Nothings perfect but instead of trying to kill it and turn things over to big business the Congress should try to tweak it. There is enough money out there to support it why not try to make it work .

After Paul Ryans voucher deal that the Repubs are backpeddling from now , I don't think the party of Lincoln has the Littlte Guy in Mind.

TwelveStep - When you delete posts you only eliminate the facts that you disagree with.

I all of those posts and there was nothing to delete!

Your cowardice is showing.

I rarely delete posts on my threads, because I am fine with people disagreeing with me, and I enjoy the opportunity for people to give opinions other than my own.

Mabey you could explain all that negative stuff" BRAIN" instead of the usual Badmouthing with no explanation, typical of these forums.  Like many right wing hacks you offer no facts , solutions or alternatives to address the posts presented. Instead you deliver a barely coherent rant on everything you post. Stay on Global Warming with the other scientists.
