There has been a herd a partially albino, with the rare full albino, deer living out in the Mineral Wells to Rock Port area for over 40 years that I know of. Occasionally you can see them on Limestone Hill and Windy Ridge. Everyone who hunts inthat area has let them pass repeatedly due to their rarity and natural beauty. Most people have to go o alarge zoo to see such animals while we are priveledged enough tohave them wild here, due mainly to hunters who admire nature and love the woods. Mr DeBarry you just shot a communities pet, one that many other hunters have passed on since they appriciate it's rarity. You should be ashamed of your greed and lack of values.

It wouldn't have mattered if it had been albino or not the smart a##es would still bash hunters regardless. Hopefully their cars will be the ones that center the deer while they are driving 70+mph on the interstate.

There is a local superstition here in SW Virginia about white deer...if you kill one, you'll never kill another deer, you'll have bad luck, you'll die, etc.  I don't know many local hunters who would shoot that deer (I would, I'm not superstitious!) and every time I see an albino or piebald deer and mention it to someone I hear this "warning" about not killing it.  I suppose there's some mystical or magical association with albinism.

One of the most common names for pubs in the UK is "The White Hart," you see them all over the country, always with an image of a white deer (a roe or red deer, obviously, not a whitetail) on the sign.  Arthur Clarke wrote a very entertaining book of short stories called Tales From The White Hart many years ago, set in one of these places.

Have you ever noticed that the people bashing hunting all seem to be name anonymous?? Must be a big family. This guy has hunted all his life and judgeing from the size of the deer and birds he has taken, quite successfully. I suggest that a little more respect for his talent be given by his peers. He can get all the hate and redicule he needs from the anti's.    Trapper

Joe DeBerry is a good, decent man and is an honorable hunter in every way.

Folks are real brave in front of a computer but those same folks get lockjaw face to face . If I were standin beside Joe in person and someone said somethin bad about him , that person and myself would have a good old fashioned round of attitude adjustment.

I made a comment in Joe's defense on that article. Maybe a few others here should show some support for Joe and hunting.
